- At first, it might seem like the Truth didn't take anything from Anya when her Gate of Truth was opened because she had no way of understanding the significance of opening it. But the Truth did take something: her ignorance. She was made to open the Gate as part of her role as an unwitting pawn in the Homunculi's game, so the Truth gave her the ability to read minds so that she could never be used in such a way again.
