• Is Granny Smith making up some of her story? Not necessarily, as in Winter Wrap Up Twilight said that they've never used magic to clean up winter, meaning Earth Ponies, not Ponyville. But since it was founded by Earth Ponies, they keep this tradition in towns they found.
  • Applejack's outburst to Twilight in that episode suddenly becomes more justified; since her family helped found Ponyville, she took Twilight's defiance of tradition seriously because her family created them.
• Granny Smith thinking Applebloom and Diamond Tiara are friends makes sense when you remember that their families have known each other for generations, with the Apples selling to Filthy Rich and his family for a long time.
• Uncle Apple Strudel just happens to be on the morning train? Not a huge stretch, considering that the Apples are a close-knit clan and he lives within a day of Ponyville — he probably came over to help with the Zap Apple harvest!
