* ''tri-'' and ''3 Ultimate'' are the only two games where you can travel underwater. They are also the two games where you get Shakalakas as companions rather than Felynes... because CatsHateWater. Just to reinforce this, ''Portable 3rd'' (being a spinoff of ''tri-''), ''Generations'', ''Generations Ultimate'', and ''Rise'' use several of ''tri-''[='=]s maps but areas that would normally be swimming areas are either dried up (Flooded Forest) or off-limits outright (Deserted Island), and they give you Felynes as hunting companions.

* Gaismagorm has a sort of odd gait where it drags its lower body behind it instead of using its hind-legs. This makes sense for an animal that spends most of its time burrowing underground, (Moles are similarly awkward above ground IRL) but it also works on another level - It literally [[SatanicArchetype crawls on its belly.]]

* In ''VideoGame/MonsterHunter4'', the fishing minigame has you catching schools of fish that just happen to be there, right for the taking. This is very reminiscent of fish traps used by many indigenous peoples, which take advantage of tides and currents to corral the fish together for capture.

* In ''Sunbreak'', it's mentioned that something destroyed the unnamed kingdom that Kagero, Tadori, and Yomogi came from. Kagero's outfit looks a lot like the ones worn in Yukumo village. The monster that destroyed said kingdom is Amatsu from ''VideoGame/MonsterHunterPortable3rd'', where it serves as the FinalBoss and Yukumo serves as the HubCity. So does that mean that ''[[HappyEndingOverride Amatsu destroyed Yukumo]]'' sometime after the events of ''Portable 3rd''??

* In ''Sunbreak'', armor made from Shagaru Magala now comes with a SetBonus that basically infects hunters with the Frenzy virus. This means hunters with this armor are now walking around carrying the virus, possibly bringing it to places it hasn't been seen before and infecting monsters who've never been exposed to it.

** There's another possible reason why Elder Dragons can't be captured. The majority of Large Monsters relies on physical attacks to harm hunters and they also use part of their body (usually their mouths) to deliver an elemental attacks. Upon capturing them, hunters weakened them long enough to allow researchers to get close in safety. The problem with Elder Dragons is that they can summon lightning, tornadoes, fire and blizzards depending on their mood without the need to raise their wings or open their mouths. Would you research a captured Elder Dragon which could still blow you away and indirectly free itself from their restraints? The same applies to Elders whose size makes a capture logistically impossible.

* Why do Rathians retain their ability to poison targets after losing their tails? It's not the tail itself what delivers the toxin, but the hair-like scales sprouting in the gaps between two or more plates.

* Once Narwa powers up into the Allmother, she has several spheres in her thunder sac. Once she dies, those spheres are suspiciously ''gone'', and several bursts of light are emitted from where the orbs were. She transforms into the Allmother by absorbing Ibushi, which is a ''male'' of the species and thus can fertilize eggs. Put [[BizarreAlienReproduction two]] and [[MonsterIsAMommy two]] together, and...[[MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning uh-oh.]]

* The cutscene where Malzeno attacks the player and Fiorayne after a hunt has the elder dragon fighting the latter. During this fight, Malzeno uses the actual attacks he uses against the player. This is to give the player a preview of some of these trickier attacks, including his extended tail attack, which has a follow up thrust that most elder dragons with the same tail attack don't have.

** The revelation that Fatalis emerged to challenge Safi'jiiva to see who's the strongest puts this in a new light. Fatalis hates humanity because it sees itself as the stringest, the apex predator of the entire Monster Hunter world. Humanity, however, challenges that due to how they're constantly able to hunt creatures bigger and "more powerful" than them, including other elders. Of course it hares them, they threaten its status as "the strongest."

* Even the basic premise of the series makes total sense when you consider how humanity evolved to be at the top of the food chain in real life. How did we deal with all of our predators and hunt down our prey? We outlasted them through [[VictoryByEndurance endurance hunting]], which is (in compressed form) exactly how Hunters beat Monsters. They don't need to overwhelm a target; [[BoringButPractical all they have to do]] is [[GradualGrinder wear it down over time]]. CherryTapping it might be, comparatively, but it's exactly how we made it to where we are.

* ''World'' is the first game in the series where large monsters are not instantly hostile to hunters and do not attack them on sight. Monsters in the Old World were hostile because they've been dealing with Hunters for centuries and ''know'' they're a threat. The monsters of the new world have not and regard hunters with caution rather than outright hostility in many cases.
