Fridge Brilliance

  • In Benched, after Tang makes his speech and Pigsy begins singing, Macaque appears to be in pain. Where is he hurt? In his ears. Of course, since he's the Six-Eared Macaque, hanging above a loud performance at its climax must have hurt a lot.
  • Why did the Lady Bone Demon have no plan to keep the Mayor in her new world? Considering he followed her since the beginning of her plans, it seems oddly cruel that she would rather see him burn. It makes sense, however, when you examine her motives — her plans revolve around her stopping mortal suffering, and the Mayor has shown time and time again to enjoy the suffering of others. Of course, the Lady Bone Demon wouldn't want him in her new world — he might instigate a new cycle of pain.
  • During the Samadhi Fire flashbacks, Red Son is punching his face while cackling. After he's done punching, the fire grows in size and strength. At first, it looks like Red Son was overwhelmed by the power and started punching himself. However, those who have read Journey to the West know that in the book, Red Son activated the Samadhi Fire by punching himself. He isn't overwhelmed by the fire in the slightest — we're watching him actively increase his power.
  • MK's admission that he plays intentionally plays dumb at times to lighten the mood at the end of Embrace Your Destiny puts a new light on his moments of noticeably sillier behavior throughout Season 3, given the immensely stressful situation that he and his friends were dealing with.
  • In the original Journey to the West, Ao Lie's fight with Kui Mulang does not go in the dragon's favor, with the White Dragon Horse being forced to flee and hide after suffering injuries from the battle. Why does Ao Lie appear to fare better this time around? Because this time around, he had someone else to protect other than himself.
  • The team never asking MK about his parents or childhood throughout the first three seasons makes sense when it's revealed in Season 4 that he doesn't remember where he came from and was raised by Pigsy from a very young age.

Fridge Horror

  • Given that MK is a stone monkey just like Monkey King, he is likely immortal. Given Monkey King's reaction to his own immortality, MK is probably going to go through the same if he is immortal.
  • ...where is the Mayor?
  • Azure Lion's grievances are justified when you take into consideration that demons were a common occurrence when the coup started. Mortals were basically playthings to demons while the celestial realm did nothing to help them.
