Fridge Brilliance

  • In "Tickle Bear Hunt", Milly's father makes up "tickle bears" to scare her and Molly. Milly doesn't believe in them, citing that she's never seen one. Her father refutes this by saying that she's never seen a polar bear either, but doesn't doubt their existence. However, there are two perfectly good reasons why Milly would believe in polar bears but not tickle bears despite having seen neither:
    • Firstly, Milly has perfectly good reason to have never seen a polar bear— she's never been to the North Pole, and polar bears are generally considered to be one of the species that can't be ethically kept in zoos. On the other hand, she goes to Farmer Hegarty's farm all the time, and thus if there were tickle bears on the farm, she'd be statistically unlikely to have gone this far without seeing one.
    • In addition, while Milly has never seen a polar bear in person, other people have, and reliable sources like scientists and documentaries say that they exist, no reliable source claims they don't exist, and there are photos and videos of polar bears. Tickle bears, on the other hand, aren't even mentioned by any of those sources and there has never been a documented case of anyone seeing one.

Fridge Horror

  • Alf doesn't wear shoes, his grandma is dirt poor, his dad's dead, his mother is nowhere to be seen, and he says he "doesn't want to talk" about his old country. This all implies that something horrible happened to him back when he lived there, and he's only seven years old.
  • Aunt Maude gets the measles in "Biddy Bid". She's elderly, and measles is especially bad for an elderly person.
