Why does Waver accept the various Impossible Tasks that Reines assigns him in their first meeting? Despite the power she has over him at the time, Reines herself seems surprised at just how readily he accepts. It is because he is Iskandar's follower, and is thus following Iskandar's example. As the King of Conquerors says, "Glory lies beyond the horizon. Challenge the unattainable. Speak of conquest and make it real." He accepts these tasks because they are impossible. This is his Okeanos. The anime has this neat scene that underscores this when he throws his coat over his shoulder, and the view shifts to Iskander throwing on his red mantle in the same gesture.
