Fridge Brilliance
- Why would the army give Li Shimin an alcohol addiction to control him, instead of some other method?
- He does not have any family to threaten, so they can't use that to control him like they can the other pilots.
- Alcohol is cheap and easy to make, compared to other drugs like opioids.
- Alcohol is one of the very few drugs that is physically addictive and can kill you
if you attempt to detox without medical assistance. Which is exactly what happens when he does detox.
Fridge Horror
- The fact that Shimin's glasses got taken away mean that in all likelihood he couldn't even see the faces of the girls he was forced to pilot with. They died without him even knowing what they looked like.
