Of course the date MikeJ was setting up was going to end the way it did, if the "nice girl from Ireland" he somehow get to videochat with was Diamanda Hagan of all people. If you're genre savvy enough on Rom Com tropes, you know the only way to top accidentally dating a scary coworker may be accidentally dating a coworker of the same gender. It also foreshadows in another way, since Diamanda is lesbian and probably wouldn't be interested in MikeJ unless she thought he was a girl.
It seems very weird that they mistake each other for women. Surely dating websites ask you to list your gender and what gender you are looking for on your profile? But in a blink-and-you-miss moment you can see that neither men had a proper photo on their profiles and instead is show a generic clip-art representing a person with girly hair. They probably were so desperate while joining the site that they listed themselves as female by accident (that's usually the first option on gender-selection tabs).
The spelling problems on the dating site, for example, is pretty much the first thing we see on screen, but it goes unremarked on and its a bit "Blink And Youll Miss It". And of course, there is Mike J asking if his date is secretly planning on date raping him when in fact its Mike J planning to date rape him.
