How did the Kura collect particles from Fukuda to form his Well if his entire goal was to help people reach a form of enlightenment through putting holes in their head? Well, it’s possible that, on some level, Fukuda realizes that he IS harming people and could even be killing them rather than helping them like he intends. And it’s just as likely he doesn’t really care if they die. If they live, they reach the same enlightenment he has. If they die, they’re free of the troubles that come with life. Either way, he’s “helping”.
Fridge Horror
Asukai Kiki’s entire situation is a complete nightmare, from start to finish. For her entire life, her psychic powers have forced her thoughts into the minds of others, and vice versa, and has probably never had a true secret or privacy of her own. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Chief Hayasura/John Walker eventually discovered her, and decided to use her as a perfect target in order to turn people into serial killers. Because of that, she has spent literal YEARS being constantly murdered and tortured in her dreams, feeling all of the pain and suffering but having no real way to escape it. It’s no wonder she has tried to commit suicide time and time again. Moreover, her powers are completely uncontrollable for her. Even as an adult, the only way to prevent her powers from threatening the world is to go back to being the Mizuhanome’s core, and HOPE that some solution to let her be free is eventually found. Until then, she’s stuck as Kaeru, constantly dying and being revived, and having the minds and thoughts of serial killers put into her mind in order to solve mysteries. Good god.
