The original seven Green Lanterns can each be seen as embodying one of the seven emotions: Alitha is bold, brash and eager to wage war on injustice (Rage); Tyran'r is a thief and among the first thing he says to the other OG lanterns is "Give me all of your rings" (Greed); Z'kran Z'rann is all spooky and angst-ridden and kinda talks like a nineties anti-hero (Fear), Jan-Al was the only one to overload her green ring with willpower to the point it cooks her down to a skeleton (Willpower), Brill is the most optimistic and the most concerned about doing good (except for maybe Alitha) (Hope). And Calleen is shown to fight primarily for the sake of her "children" rather than a sense of altruism (Love). The only one who doesn't really fit this is Kaja Dox.
The one part of the emotional spectrum Frank Laminski doesn't use when bearing the Phantom Ring in the "Phantom Lantern" arc is the violet light of love. Given that he's a self-centered jerk who only cares about being a hero for the glory, it could be because he doesn't have any legitimate love to speak of besides shallow feelings of lust.
