Fridge Brilliance

  • The Igor Stravinsky piece, the Firebird Suite, has a Fridge moment as well. The nature spirit regrows the forest better than it was before, once the eruption is over. And volcanic soils are especially good ones. The result of what the Firebird did helped with the "renewal" aspect as well. This is the main role of forest fires in nature - to clear out dead or dying vegetation and make room for new growth. Using them as metaphors, both the nature spirit and Firebird and necessary to keep the forest going, however distressing it's temporarily being burned down is for her.
  • While obviously it doesn't grow as fast as the animation depicts, volcanic eruptions can result in vast, and quick periods of regrowth in ecosystems. Volcanic ash is rich in elements like magnesium and potassium, which after an eruption is released into the soil, consequentially making it very fertile. Indeed, within a year of Saint Helen's erupting, the vegetation was already starting to grow back with strength.
