Until this episode, we've only seen Skyler use drinking glasses or coffee mugs as ashtrays. This is a common thing for people who smoke but don't think of themselves as "smokers": obtaining and using an ashtray would mean they actually are a "smoker." In this episode, either through finally giving up on her denial or through finally just giving up, she appears to have finally switched to using an actual ashtray. Sadly, she's doing this in a house with an infant daughter whose family medical history includes lung cancer.
