Fridge / Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

Fridge Brilliance

  • The guys seemingly violate San Dimas Time at the end, but it can be explained if they switched places with themselves from 16 months in the future.
    • Could also be that Rufus made up San Dimas Time purely to motivate the boys to finish their project on time. Doesn't seem to be applied anywhere outside of their project.
      • After all, their BODIES run on San Dimas Time, and they were, well, slackers, so Rufus had a good reason to convince them that they couldn't delay, or it would have taken many years to do it. They didn't figure out that they could have dialed one day back as many times as needed.
      • There's a scene that proves that Rufus made up San Dimas Time: The plan to set up the rescue of the historical figures. If what Rufus was telling the truth, that means Bill and Ted couldn't have gone back after report to be able to set up everything, including taking the keys from Mr. Logan.
      • Someone can trick out time and then return to the "correct" present — it would simply be one hour after they left, assuming it took them an hour to make the time-tricking preparations.
  • The credits detail the band heading off to Mars to headline a gig there. Why would they do that? Because Bill and Ted know that the Stations are from Mars. Even better fridge brilliance kicks in when you consider that this is probably step one of how they spread harmony to the universe as suggested by Rufus; generating friendly music-based relations with technologically advanced Martians makes everything easier.
  • Why did Bill and Ted keep winning all their games against Death, when nobody else ever has? Because it was pre-determined that they would have to be alive in the future to create their music-based utopia.
