Fridge Brilliance

  • Everyone thinks that Ellie is Elaine, the Lady of Shalott and that she didn't play into the overall story aside from that. But she's actually the Lady of the Lake, The Chooser of the One. Of course, who's aware of the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson?
    Out flew the web and floated wide;
    The mirror crack'd from side to side;
    'The curse is come upon me,' cried
    The Lady of Shalott.''
    • The mirror in this verse? It's a pool of water.
  • After calling out Morton for his cowardice, Ellie leaves with her head held high "as if I, and not Jennifer, had been a queen in a past life". This becomes a Rewatch Bonus after The Reveal; Ellie wasn't a queen, but she was a goddess, higher than any mortal monarch.
  • The security guard's Arbitrary Skepticism in the film is a bit of Fridge Brilliance. Because while the viewer has seen all the magic and bizarre things happening, the guard hadn't. Also, in real life a student bringing a functional medieval weapon into a school is still a bit hard to believe.

Fridge Horror

  • The fact that Mordred is actually Mr. Morton in the film version. Considering he's an adult while Allie, Will and the others are all still minors.
