Let's be honest. The ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' series always had a thing for making the protagonist's and antagonist's relationship feel... ''rather personal.'' Therefore, when you put together the ten main heroes and ten main antagonist of ''ten'' games... well, THIS happens! [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Awkwardness and creepiness ahoy!]]

And now, some of the more notorious examples are illustrated in [[http://thetruedarkness.deviantart.com/art/Dissidia-Hell-Yeah-172134141 this picture!]]

* Ultimecia's "failed" PreMortemOneLiner to Squall:
-->'''Ultimecia''': "Shall we dance?"
* Ultimecia's response to Squall's breaking through her barrage in their pre-duel cutscene:
-->'''Ultimecia''': "So you would rather die hard."
** The end-credits montage, which features the Heroes' {{cutscene}}s from Destiny Odyssey, has Squall and Ultimecia's scene set to a snippet of "Eyes On Me," [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII their game]]'s ''love theme''.
* Things get (if possible) even more unusual when Squall, the group's TeamMom, has to fight Warrior of Light, TeamDad in general. Look at it carefully and you might see a resemblance to a couple talking about how they should treat their children.
** Even more apparent in ''012'', where Squall's intro to Bartz is "Would you ''stop'' fidgeting?" and sounds more like a mother preparing her kid for a flu shot than a combatant.
* Lightning's intro quote is very, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything interesting]]. This is especially the case with her rather [[{{Dominatrix}} assertive attitude]] and rather commanding voice.
-->'''Lightning''': [[TeacherStudentRomance "It's time for your lesson, schoolboy."]]

[[AC:The Emperor]]
* While not particularly obsessed with Firion, his lines to certain opponents can be... ''interesting.''
** Towards Zidane (it's mostly the tone, but the line itself isn't entirely innocent):
--->'''The Emperor:''' "Do you intend to pick my pocket?"
** Towards Terra:
--->'''The Emperor:''' [''[[EvilLaugh chuckles]]''] "Why don't you let me control you?"
*** ... Why does that sound like [[Film/{{Labyrinth}} Jareth]]?
*** It doesn't help that he seems to be eyeing Terra out in the ''Dissidia'' opening and in the CGI parts of the ''Duodecim'' trailers.
** His line when facing Cecil lends itself to... interpretations, both tone and line alone:
--->'''The Emperor:''' "Ought you not be on ''our'' side?"
* And check Kuja's entry.
* More so MinionShipping[=/=]UnholyMatrimony than pure FoeYay, but most fans see ''something'' going on between Mateus and Ultimecia given the sheer number of scenes in which they are seen plotting together. His Encounter line towards her in the original ''Dissidia'' suggests something of a WorthyOpponent-like relationship. As one fan best put it, "it's merely a matter of who [[DoubleEntendre tops]]."
-->'''The Emperor''': "Let us crown the ''true'' master."

[[AC:Cloud of Darkness]]
* Cloud of Darkness has quite a lot of FoeYay with everyone thanks to her husky voice, but special mention must go to her BDSM-licious response to Sephiroth:
-->'''Cloud of Darkness''': "The truly mighty must be leashed."
* After fighting Laguna, the former soldier gets, er... "{{distracted by|TheSexy}} [[MaleGaze her appearance]], though [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial not by any particular PART of her appearance]]," and then, after she discovers that '''a)''' Laguna doesn't see himself fit to be one of Cosmos' chosen, '''b)''' he protests that he's not taking orders from her, just helping her, and '''c)''' he desires to fight the manikins to help out his war buddies (an act that [[spoiler:is foreseen to be--and ultimately becomes--a suicide mission]]), she takes a curious interest in Laguna's methodology and becomes his personal enemy for the rest of the 12th cycle, [[DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu while assisting him in reaching his goal]].
** The in-game character files state that it was Laguna's "charm" which drew her to him, so make of that what you will.
** If you consider Squall's own example with the same lady, FoeYay with her [[LikeFatherLikeSon must apparently run in the family]].
* Tidus's encounter quote when he fights [[{{Stripperific}} her]]:
-->'''Tidus''': "[[AccidentalInnuendo I can score even in the dark]]!"

* Kefka's obsession with Terra is also utterly creepy. Of course, given that he's a MonsterClown, that's the point, but ''still'', check the lines:
-->'''Kefka:''' "Time to come home to papa!"
-->'''Kefka:''' "Hello, my pretty!"
** And then there's [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPRV5XBwStw Destiny Odyssey 42,]] and 'nuff said.
* And while this line may be an somewhat incorrect translation, or just easy to misinterpret, Kefka's pre-battle one liner to Firion speaks a lot:
-->'''Kefka:''' "Ooh... aren't ''you'' hot!"
** It's a bit of both. The line in Japanese roughly translates to "You must be sweltering," referring to the amount of gear Firion carries.
*** ... doesn't that imply that Kefka thinks he should take off his gear?
*** You would think so...
* And don't even asks where it goes if you have Kefka fighting himself...
** For the curious, it's:
--->'''Kefka:''' [[spoiler:[[DistractedByMyOwnSexy "Who's THAT handsome devil?"]]]]
* ''Dissidia 012'' ramps up the Foe Yay between him and Terra to the point it rivals Cloud and Sephiroth. His comments about her sound like as an abusive parent at best and an abusive ''lover'' at worst. When she resists his control he tortures her into submission with the line "Sorry babe, [[WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou I only hurt you because you make me!]]" When she escapes he remarks "she always comes running straight back into my arms," and he has ''[[TermsOfEndangerment pet names]]'' for her, including "sweetcakes" and "dame."
** Then, less perverted but no less disturbing, is this gem.
-->'''Kefka:''' "You better straighten up missy, or I'll hafta teach you a lesson!"

* ALL of Sephiroth's dialogue directed at Cloud. ALL OF IT! And it only gets creepier as it progresses. Which is both ironic and annoying since that isn't his intent at all, he ''tries'' to come off as a philosophical WarriorPoet. But just about everything he says (especially to Cloud) is too cryptic.
-->'''Sephiroth''': "Such a good boy! You've come back to me where you belong."
-->'''Sephiroth''': "[[Anime/FinalFantasyVIIAdventChildren On your knees! I want you to beg for forgiveness.]]"
* Heck, he has Foe Yay with ''everyone,'' to judge by the quote he uses after executing one of his attacks: "You look good."
* And everyone certainly seems to make a big deal out of Sephiroth [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything stealing Firion's rose,]] especially when you're told he's run off to the enemy's stronghold by himself because "something precious of his was stolen." (It doesn't help one bit that the guy's Japanese FanNickname translates to "virgin.")
* Some of his dialogue directed toward the Warrior of Light can come across as creepy as that towards Cloud.

* And of course, the rather [[DudeLooksLikeALady feminine-looking]] Kuja's obsession with Zidane also deserves mention. Not only does he have ''four'' encounter lines for him, but Ultimecia makes it all even creepier.
-->'''Ultimecia''': "By now, Kuja should be having his way with Zidane and Bartz."
** Yuck. That would be SiblingIncest.
* And then -- more HoYay than FoeYay, but still in a battle -- there's his encounter line for The Emperor:
-->'''Kuja''': "You think you can ''dominate'' me?"

* Not that they're actually foes except in the sense that they ''can'' fight each other, but [[TheSmurfettePrinciple Terra]] will deliver this line to ChivalrousPervert Zidane before a fight:
-->'''Terra''': "What do you intend to steal from me?"
* While Zidane isn't interested in hitting on the one actual female on the Chaos side, Ultimecia doesn't hesitate to deliver an interesting encounter line to ''him.''
-->'''Ultimecia''': "I wonder if you can dance with me."
* There's even a bit of FoeYay between Chaos and Cosmos. Well, apparently they ''were'' lovers.
** [[OedipusComplex Or mother and son. Not that the two are necessarily mutually exclusive]].
** Chaos's pre-battle taunt to Sephiroth is more than a bit suggestive, seems the latter's attitude towards Cloud is contagious.
-->"Kneel before me if you seek comfort."
* In ''Dissidia 012''[='s=] official quests, Cecil remembers Kain since the 12th cycle was his first and thus he entered with no memories or home. It's later commented that he doesn't remember much else about home, not even Golbez (until the 13th cycle). So, Cecil awakens with no memories, and what's one of the first things he recalls? Not his wife, not his son, not his brother, but Kain. Hmmm...
** To be fair, Cecil and Kain are adoptive brothers. The King of Baron rose and took both of them as his children when he a) found Cecil under a tree as an infant and b) took in Kain when his father died.
** Although Cecil and Golbez have their familiar bond represented very nicely for the majority of their time together, things [[RelationshipWritingFumble start to unravel in their last interactions together]], with the script being such that you could take out their occasional instances of calling each other "brother" ([[IncestSubtext Or not if that floats your boat.]]) and sell the script as the climactic confrontation between a pair of StarCrossedLovers who ultimately decide to part BecauseDestinySaysSo.
* If Gilgamesh didn't have a case of the hots for Bartz before, he definitely does now. Case in point: his first cutscene involves him bumping into Squall, Zidane and Vaan. He's met them all before, but doesn't seem to recognize them. But when he meets up with Bartz elsewhere? He basically says, "I thought I was reduced to wandering around the Rift forever, but then I remembered we still haven't had that mano-e-mano I talked about!" The idea of fighting Bartz again kept Gilgamesh going for an untold number of installments.
