Stranger Inside is a made-for-TV prison crime-drama film. It was released in 2001.

After a stint in a juvenile detention center, Treasure (Yolonda Ross) is transferred to an adult prison where her mother, whom she has never met, is also imprisoned. Before long, Treasure encounters Brownie (Davenia McFadden), a lifer and gang leader. Brownie reveals that she is Treasure's mother, and takes the girl under her wing, protecting her from the dangers of hardcore prison life. But some women in Brownie's gang resent Treasure's presence, leading to violent conflict.

This film provides examples of:

  • All Gays are Promiscuous: Lampshades by one of the inmate when her lover confronts her about seeing somebody else: "I never said we were exclusive".
  • All for Nothing: Treasure Lee gets herself into prison to be reunited with her biological mother Brownie, only to find out Brownie is not her biological mother and her real mother has died from a drug overdose.
  • Butch Lesbian: Brownie and several other inmates are this, complete with short haircuts, no makeup and masculine dresswear and attitude.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: Treasure Lee gets herself transferred to another prison where she meets Brownie and introduces herself as her long-lost daughter.
  • Situational Sexuality: Because there are no men around, most of the women hook up with one another. Treasure Lee finds solace with an inmate herself.
