A 1985 Made-for-TV Movie Drama directed by Robert Michael Lewis that follows Cindy Fralick (Nancy McKeon) becoming the first woman of the L.A. fire department and faces the challenges that come with it.

The movie also stars Vincent Irizarry, Barry Corbin, Guy Boyd, Amanda Wyss, Whip Hubley, James Whitmore Jr., Ed Lauter, and Terry David Mulligan.

It aired on CBS on the September 23, 1986.

  • Boyish Short Hair: Cindy is informed that she must cut her long hair above her ears and above her shoulders to conform to the safety regulations - which of course were written for men. Her superiors are unhappy with it and insist she cut it even shorter. on seeing the new result she cries that she looks like a boy.
  • One-Word Title: Firefighter.
  • Traumatic Hair Cut: After passing all the written and physical tests, she's informed that her hair does not meet the health and safety standards (which were of course written for men). After the first haircut, her superiors rule that it's still too long. After the next cut, she cries that she looks like a boy now.
