Desolation is a Horror Movie Directed and Produced by Sam Patton as his directorial debut.
Abby (Jaimi Paige) is a widowed mother to young Sam (Toby Nichols), who's brought him, along with her friend Jen (Alyshia Oschse) into the woods to spread the ashes of her husband from the top of the mountain they used to climb. Along the way, they find themselves being followed by some shady fellow in black clothes and orange sunglasses.
After they spread the ashes, on their way back, they quickly discover that guy again, and start to become creeped out by him. Things get worse when he abducts Jen and starts gunning for the others.
The movie was released on December 15th, 2017.
Desolation contains examples of:
- Beard of Evil: The killer has a huge beard on his face.
- Don't Go in the Woods: In this case, if you do, you'll be stalked and killed by a very quiet hiker.
- How We Got Here: The movie begins with Abby running through the woods holding Sam's jacket and screaming for help before flashing back to her, Sam, and Jen hiking through the woods.
- In the Hood: The killer wears a black hooded coat.
- One-Word Title: Naturally, since the movie's called "Desolation".
- Sunglasses at Night: The killer wears a pair of orange shades. They come off when Sam takes them, breaks them, and throws them in a fire.
- They Look Just Like Everyone Else!: The killer is a bearded man with orange sunglasses and a hoodie. He gives off bad vibes, sure, but he definitely isn't some masked psycho.
- The Tooth Hurts: When the killer has Abby at his mercy one thing he does is take a pair of pliers and use them to yank one of her teeth out.
- Unwilling Suspension: Abby and Sam find Jen hung upside-down by the killer in the woods. Abby also discovers a huge chunk of flesh has been cut out from Jen's back.
- The Voiceless: The killer never says a word. He DOES however, let out a scream of pain when Sam stabs him with his dad's knife.
