Released in 1986, this sequel takes place a few years after the events of the first film. An apartment complex is taken over by demons after a girl is attacked by one that emerges from a documentary about said demons. The film then follows some of the tenants who attempt to survive.

This film has examples of:

  • Antagonist Title: Now combined with Numbered Sequels.
  • Apocalyptic Log: The documentary in the sequel shows a group of teenagers accidentally reviving a demon and getting killed on-camera.
  • Apologetic Attacker: The aerobics instructor does this to a mother who is turning into a demon in front of her daughter's eyes before shooting her. The daughter is Asia Argento by the way.
  • Big Bad: Birthday girl Sally is first to be transformed into a demon, and the last one to be dealt with.
  • Birthday Party Goes Wrong: Sally's birthday party was cursed from start to finish. First she hates her dress and hair, then her dreaded ex-boyfriend threatens to show up and she has a nervous breakdown. Finally, a demon emerges from the TV and turns her into a demon who in turn kills all the guests and turns them into demons too. What else could go wrong?
  • Body Horror: We're treated to seeing how the demons deteriorate, which includes bleeding acidic blood and their flesh melting away.
  • Chest Burster: A smaller demon erupts from the chest of a child-turned-demon.
  • Deadly Scratch: Being scratched by a a demon is one of the ways of getting infected and transform into a demon. Even the tiniest little scratch can trigger the transformation.
  • Dumb Muscle: Some of the clients of the gym play this straight.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: At the beginning of the movie, a demon from a movie about a demon contagion becomes aware that it's being watched, and breaks out to start a new outbreak. By the way, you're also watching a movie about a demon contagion...
  • Painful Transformation: The transformation of a human into a demon is not a pleasant process. When the process starts, they first feel like a fever and nausea as the fluids in their body transform inside, sometimes erupting through the mouth like green goo or making the veins visible when they violently swell with the new blood current. Then, claws emerge in their finger nails breaking their way through the human nails causing pain. Then, fangs erupt in their mouth gums pushing out the human teeth, causing bleeding and pain. Victims seem to be painfully conscious of this hurtful process at least through a part of it until they lose their human minds and turn into wild monsters. For some victims, the process happens painfully slowly, but for others, it's a matter of a flash as they suddenly attack fully transformed without fair warning.
  • Surprisingly Happy Ending: Given the straight up Downer Ending of the first movie, it comes as a relief that Hannah's baby is born, the demons all die, and the rest of the world is seemingly demon-free.
  • The Virus: Like in the first movie, there's three ways for a human to be transformed into a demon: a scratch of a demon's claws, being bitten by a demon or by their skin touching the demon's fluids. All three infect the human who is then condemned to be a demon sooner or later. The time it takes to trigger the transformation varies between infected people, some transform in a matter of minutes, others resist the infection for hours, but all of them eventually transform into demons, and not even dying as a human will prevent this, as they'll just get reanimated as demons when the time comes, except if they're killed in the middle of the transformation.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Its not shown what happened to Ingrid, the teenage girl in Demons 2. She is last shown surrounded by demons while trapped in a car and then in a jump cut, the demons are shown leaving. The only possible thing is she got killed too. That doesn't make sense because they explicitly showed a dog become a zombie and a boy too but couldn't show her death or atleast her fate?
    • It does make sense when you remember she's played by Dario's daughter Asia. Of course he wouldn't want to show his own daughter (who was still a child at the time) getting killed.
