Deadly Circuit (French: Mortelle Randonnée) is a 1983 French thriller film based on the novel Eye of the Beholder written by Marc Behm. Directed by Claude Miller and co-written by Jacques Audiard, Michel Audiard, and Marc Behlm.
Starring Michele Serrault and Isabelle Adjani, Deadly Circuit revolves around a serial killer named Catherine who seduces men and murders them throughout Europe while she is pursued by a detective named Beauvoir who is also known as "The Eye". Beuvoir develops a fixation on Catherine as a substitute for his long lost daughter, Marie. He ensures that Catherine continues to elude capture by disposing of the bodies she leaves behind.
Deadly Circuit contains examples of:
- Defective Detective: Beauvoir is a prime example of this after he starts to become obsessed with Catherine to the point that he actively covers up her crimes.
- Missing Child: Marie, Beauvoir's long lost daughter.
- Replacement Goldfish: Catherine becomes this to Beauvoir for his missing daughter.
- Scary Teeth: The Grey Lady and her heavily discoloured teeth.
- Serial Killer: Catherine. Of the Black Widow variety. Though she also guns down some people throughout the film.
