Creepozoids is a 1987 American Sci-Fi Horror film directed by David De Coteau and starring Linnea Quigley, Key Abraham, Michael Aranda, Richard S. Hawkins, and Ashlyn Gere. The film is set in 1998, six years after an apocalyptic nuclear war, and centers around a group of U.S. Army deserters who take refuge in an abandoned laboratory complex in the ruins of Los Angeles. They soon discover that the lab was formerly a top-secret army research center, where a genetically-engineered monster lurks in the darkness.

Tropeozoids:

  • 20 Minutes into the Future: Filmed in 1987, set in 1998.
  • After the End: The film is set six years after a nuclear war has reduced much of the U.S. to a bombed-out ruin, with acid rain being a regular occurrence.
  • Enfant Terrible: The monster gives birth to a baby with a human face, who subsequently attacks Jake. After an extended struggle, Jake strangles the monster baby with its own umbilical cord.
  • Rodents of Unusual Size: Jake and Blanca are both attacked by giant mutated rats living in the old laboratory, with one of them attempting to crawl underneath Blanca's shirt.
  • Shout-Out: Among the names Jesse finds on the computer are Forrest Ackerman, Roger Corman, and Charles Band, the latter of whom produced the film.
  • Shower of Love: Jake and Blanca take the time to make out in the shower. Given the presence of acid rain, you'd think they'd be a bit more inclined to do whatever they can to conserve all available fresh water.
