Arthur the King is a 2024 adventure/sports drama film based on the true life memoir of athlete Mikael Lindnord. It is directed by Simon Cellan Jones (The Family Plan), written by Michael Brandt (Chicago Fire), and stars Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Bear Grylls.

The film follows an adventure racing team competing in a grueling 435 mile race in the Dominican Republic who have a life-changing encounter with an injured dog following them through their journey. The film was released on March 15, 2024.

Has nothing to do with King Arthur.

Arthur the King includes examples of the following:

  • As Himself: Adventurer and television host Bear Grylls is listed in the trailer as himself.
  • Based on a True Story: "Based on the incredible true story", says the trailer.
  • Precision F-Strike: Towards the end of the film, Michael drops the F-bomb when the attendants won't let him take Arthur onto the plane with him.
  • Shout-Out: As Michael bonds with the dog, one of his teammates derisively calls him PAW Patrol.
