** Seconded by WeirdSmells: It's material like this that makes me want to write a screenplay incredibly offensive to egyptians.
** Thirded by Tropers/MrZAP. An awesome read that inspired me to try to emulate it with my own Scottish campaign. You will love it. ELEPHAAAAAANTS!

* ''Comments'': It's a well-conceived and rather plausible alternate history showing how Japan would have turned out had the Takeda, rather than the trio of Oda, Toyotomi and Tokugawa emerged as the dominant force that would eventually bring the Sengoku Jidai to an end once and for all. In addition, the author went through the trouble of seamlessly including other historical figures [[spoiler:like HattoriHanzo becoming a (ninja) vassal of the Takeda]] and seemingly random events all while developing various characters that keep in line more or less with what their personalities were in real-life history.

* ''Comments'': A finished and polished HSR. The second narrator who writes the last few chapters is an absolutely hilarious UnreliableNarrator. Maybe the best at Total War Heaven, and Afty has also written a couple of other HSRs that are nearly as good. Really quite intriguing and deals with the least used major faction. Heavy on both pictures and narrative. Took a while to finish but perfect for an ArchiveBinge.

[[http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?323950-M2TW-AAR-Who-Watches-the-Watchers-Papal-Apocalypse Who Watches the Watchers?]]
* Recommended by MrZAP
* ''Synopsis'': A Scottish AAR with a goal of non-interference as we see the AI factions take each other on, and eventually transitions to a more "proactive" approach.
* ''Comments'': A fascinating alternate history; we get to watch the rise and fall of the Poles, Mongols, Venetians, Spanish, Hungarians, and, ultimately, the Papal States, as the Old World is thrown into turmoil. The first half, when the player mostly just watches the action from the British Isles, reads like a history, while the second part is a long military campaign focused on [[spoiler:stopping the Pope from conquering the world]]. The military campaign is extremely in-depth, with strategies planned out far in advance and carried out with careful precision. It is an AAR, so don't expect a lot of focus on characters or plot so much as a general history of Europe.

** Seconded by Liquid Uranium: One of the most detailed and well-written works I've ever read. The author devotes an incredible amount of attention to detail, providing screenshots to document the story as it progresses. The amount of skill shown by the author is equally impressive, as he manages to achieve victory despite overwhelming odds. Be warned, though - at a full 35 pages of forum posts, [[DoorStopper it's not]] [[UnderStatement a quick read]].

* ''Synopsis'': A narrative, text-focused AAR following the Sweboz tribe as they try to unify the peoples of ancient Germania into a single nation.
* ''Comments'': This fic is still a work in progress, currently weighing in about ten or eleven updates, but this troper thinks it's already one of the best works they have at twcenter. As far as AAR's go, it's rare to see them written this way - with characters, dialogue, and scenes - but this fic seems to prove that the approach ''can'' work if done correctly. Not as many pictures as most AAR's, so those with short attention-spans beware!
