Proof that the remaining 10% is worth being stuck in a mountain for five hundred years for here.

These are recommendations made by Tropers for The New Legends Of Monkey, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add your own favorite fanfic to the list, but remember to use the template found here. Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexual or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Reviews of fics are encouraged, but if you choose to write one, please make it substantive, and give specific details about what you liked / disliked in the fic. If you want to give a fic a thumbs-up without writing a full review, you can add your troper handle to the Recommendations Line.

General Fics

Not Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining by UselessReptileWrites

  • Recommended by: Tiggerific
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Since Monkey has regained the ability to summon his cloud, travel should be a lot easier than walking. Emphasis on "should."
  • Comments: Short and funny.

Shipping Fics

Nothing Personal by BashfulTenrec

  • Recommended by: Tiggerific
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Monkey/Tripitaka
  • Synopsis: "Relax, little monk. Just a god warming up his human. Nothing personal."
  • Comments: Cute and to the point. Includes a protective Monkey and cuddling for body warmth. Cuddling is all they do, so the pairing can be viewed as platonic if romance isn't your thing.

A Whole New World by Mia_Vaan

  • Recommended by: Tiggerific
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Monkey/Tripitaka
  • Synopsis: Monkey takes Tripitaka flying on his cloud.
  • Comments: Since Monkey has his own personal cloud, this pairing was just asking for a Romantic Flight Fic. And the author delivers.

Crossover Fics

Colour And Light by commoncomitatus

  • Recommended by: Walutahanga
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Three daemons that have no human set out on a quest with a human that has no daemon.
  • Comments: A clever fusion with His Dark Materials that perfectly adapts the backstories of each character. Despite some melancholy material, it's rather sweet how they overcome loneliness and taboos on intimacy.
