Proof that the remaining 10% is worth being hugged by a serial killer.

These are recommendations made by tropers for Mindhunter fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page.

Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here. Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexualnote  or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Reviews of fics are encouraged, but if you choose to write one, please make it substantive, and give specific details about what you liked / disliked in the fic. If you want to give a fic a thumbs-up without writing a full review, you can add your troper handle to the Recommendations Line. Please refrain from posting "Comments" or Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

  • Recommended by: thebadplace
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with: Detroit: Become Human

The Bureau's answer to outbreaks of deviant behaviour, this unit collects data on deviant androids in order to understand and preempt criminal behaviour. So, Hank has no fucking idea why they've zeroed in on a non-deviant android, his partner Connor.
  • Comment: An interesting crossover featuring amazing characterization of the four leads, a more realistic android revolution and an explanation into what deviancy and rA9 really are. Also features an interesting characterization of RK900.

    Shipping Fics

The Everyday Miscellaneous by snailmeamail
  • Recommended by: wolverinedoctorwho
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Months after ATKID is shut down for good, one case in the winter of '81 has changed everything. Now, in the spring of '82, between routine panic attacks and a mountain of new cases, Holden struggles to make sense of it all. The only thing keeping him grounded is something Bill had given him those many months ago. He knows he has to give it back, but doing so would require two things of him: talking to Bill—when their current relationship is rocky at best—and letting go of the only part of him he's ever gotten to possess. There are the grand things in life—emerald rings, a seafoam green house, a red pickup with a hatchet in its bed—but they are obnoxiously loud and gaudy compared to the everyday miscellaneous. The trivial, mundane objects of life have ghosts within them. For once, it's not just Holden's ghosts haunting him. It's Bill's, too. Or, four prosaic, everyday objects bill has given holden, and one thing holden gave him.

  • Comment: Very good hurt-comfort, with lots of research shown. Both characters get to reflect on the events of the show, and everything is resolved in a fulfilling way. Really hones in on the hurt for Holden. The "four prosaic objects" bit fades out after the first few chapters, but is a good segue into the main plot of the fic.
