  • Mostly writes one-shots or short stories. Her writing style is solid and the way she spins the characters is intriguing, while still being believable. Her wide variety of stories are all well written, fresh and definitely worth a look.
    • Seconded by spaceage. She puts the characters in situations such as high school, real life, etc. and instead of making it annoying and completely OOC, she blends it into them to the point that it's flawless.
Numbuh Phenon
  • Recommended by: Cheesecake God 5000, rioludoodle
  • A very talented writer with a vast collection of well-done KND fanfics. He can write any genre from angst to humor, and keeps the cast in-character while bringing the reader closer to them. Is a prime example of an author who has a lot of respect for the series, but still is able to work his own material in.
    • This guy is just...amazing. People wonder why this guy wasn't writing for the tv show itself.
    • He masters both the moving and the hilarious with equal ease.
    • A personal favorite is Redemption

  • Lots of high quality fan-art, often with a quirky or moving take on the KND-verse. Includes the excellent comic Last Mission (see below).
Numbuh 88
  • Recommended by Misterian
  • A strongly talented writer that is able to balance the KND canon with her own ideas and concepts, her fanfics carry senarios and plotlines that haven't been approached in the canon stroyline but remains true to what is liked about the KND francise, the stories in the fanfics are accurate enough with the KND canon and greatly accurate with the characterization of the show's original cast, that Mr. Warburton could do episodes entirely on them and randomly air them with very few people taking notice. And though she has very few fan characters, her main fan character, Numbuh 30 is likable and believable enough that he alone would fit the KND storyline really well.

  • Another source of excellent KND fan art, from whole multi-page stories to small touching pictures of KND life. Often includes many small stories in one picture.
TKG
  • Recommended by: rioludoodle
  • So long as fan art is being covered here, TKG's works absolutely have to be mentioned. Her drawings vary from a neat interpretation of the show's animation design to detailed pieces in the artist's personal style. She has drawn mind-blowing KND fan art that never fails to tug at your heartstrings, and the sheer amount of it is staggering. Just this one collection is quite stunning: KND:Reboot

    General Fics
Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

How on Earth by RubyWings91

  • Recommended by: rioludoodle
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: "AU. Starts near the end of Operation Zero. What would have happened if the plan to launch the moon base at Grandfather had failed? Numbah Zero said there was no way on earth to defeat Grandfather, hopefully he was wrong."
  • Comments: An incredibly enthralling fic with a very interesting take on the what-ifs of Operation Z.E.R.O. While following the progress of a cornered resistance group made of some of our favorite characters both kid and adult, this fic also delves quite deeply into the mysteries of Grandfather's powers and the Uno family's history. A fascinating read, even if it's incomplete.
  • Notes: Now has a Tropes page.

Operation: There Is No Operation by Karkadinn

  • Recommended by Ulathon
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Set a couple of months after the scavenger hunt in "Operation INTERVIEWS". Numbuh 362, the Supreme Leader of the KND, finds out that Numbuh One has joined the Galactic Kids Next Door and embarks on a top secret mission to get him back - ONLY for the good of the KND, of course, NOTHING personal. But Father discovers what she is up to, and he has plans of his own ...
  • Comments: This story mixes humor, action, and seriousness in a way that captures the tone from the original show perfectly. The story is mainly told from Numbuh 362's perspective and we learn a lot about the dark sides of being the Supreme Leader of the Kids Next Door. The characters are complex, the addition of new characters and locations is well done and feels natural, the awkward pre-teen romance between 362 and One is handled in a realistic and moving way without getting in the way of the plot (this is not a slashfic) and Father gets to demonstrate some awesome magnificent bastardry.
    • Double-recommended by Shumazau. The psychology behind the story is amazing; you find yourself agreeing with everything that comes up, especially the fragile co-existence between children and adults. It's one of those things that you have to accept as canon because it really seems like it.

Operation: FRAGMENT by Numbah 702

  • Recommended by Ulathon,
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: Three years after being decommissioned, the 16-years-old former members of the legendary Sector V live their separate lives at Willem High School, each struggling with his or her own teenage problems. On top of that, they are all haunted by mysterious dreams about their forgotten past and the odd sensation that they used to be friends. Meanwhile, sinister forces are putting a plan in motion that might end up threatening the world ...
  • Comments: An ongoing fan fiction with a large cast (seemingly everyone from the series) that manage to move into realistic Darker and Edgier territory while remaining true to both the characters and the KND-verse.
    • Seconding this. It is really amazing, although a bit slow moving. It does merit an AU tag because it ignores INTERVIEW. Still, amazing piece of work and Numbah 702 has the plot planned out.
    • Third. It might be slow, but the development of the story and the characters is excellent. I particularly enjoy the changing points of view of the characters involved
    • Fourthed. There's a bit of Gratuitous Japanese in one scene with Kuki's family, but it's pretty cute and not intrusive.
    • Fifthed. Best post-series decommissioned AU I've ever read.

Zuzu's Petals by Numbuh Phenon

  • Recommended by Ulathon
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Stuck at Moonbase doing paperwork on Christmas Eve, Rachel wishes that she had never taken the job as Soopreme Leader and stayed an ordinary operative. Her guardian angel appears and grants her wish by altering the timeline. But something is missing ...
  • Comments: A great It's a Wonderful Life inspired fan fic. As the author says: Instead of complaining that the rosebush is full of thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
    • Seconded by Cheesecake God 5000. In fact, just about all of Phenon's work is amazing.
      • Third...ed by spaceage. The previous statements don't even come close to how amazing this guy is.
      • Fourth. What's even better is he didn't go with the traditional It's a Wonderful Life route for numbuh 362, but rather turn it into a reflection on what's important in one's life as compared to how someone has helped others.

Cold Reception by Numbuh Phenon

  • Recommended by spaceage
  • Status: Active
  • Synopsis: When a rogue operative threatens to reveal the GKND, Nigel is sent back down to stop them by any means necessary. But people have changed and the boy is tangled in a web of love and betrayal as he finds out just who he has been assigned to hunt down.
  • Comments: One of the best fanfics on the archive. The entire thing is written and crafted in a way that it's hard to believe that this wasn't an episode for the TV show itself. With long chapters and an excellent plot line, the story blends, meshes and throws a dozen different plot twists that you'd never see coming before you even get to the third chapter. It's original in an unoriginal sort of way, and it's just proof that this show is deeper than it seems. And just wait until Numbuh 362 shows up. Bonus points if you can figure out where the story name comes from.

TND vs. the World by Original Demigod Superspy

  • Recommended by spaceage
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: When Evil Exes attack, the lines separating love and war get crossed. Loosely inspired by Scott Pilgrim, will be a bit dark at times. Couples galore.
  • Comments: Don't let the title fool ya. It's one of the best this troper's read. This fic was based off Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, but it's done in a way that proves perfect for the characters. The author blends the characters with their Scott Pilgrim counterparts and manages to not even change their personalities into OOC-Land, keeping a completely canon outlook (so far, that is. We're still wondering how the plot will go. Canon or otherwise,). For a first fiction, it's shaping up to be one of the better stories on the archive, and the editing is superb. Defiantly worth the read.

Aftermath by Afalstein

  • Recommended by Eric W
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "...And that was the last time we saw Numbuh 1. We all missed him so much... but I think Wally took it the hardest." The last days of Sector V, and the struggle of each member, as told by an heir of their legacy...
  • Comments: This Fanfiction is just Awesome. It's a continuation fic with some out there moments, but it takes the universe seriously and makes as many nods to previous events as possible. However what really sets it apart is that it tries to marry the KND ideals of being a kid with the inevitability of growing up, and how each one of the remaining members of sector V deals with that. Has extremely powerful conclusions for each of the characters, as well as out of episode meditations on their actions in show, with everything from the burden of leadership to survivor's guilt played with. By far, my favorite development has to be Numbuh 4's development, who goes through the most Character Development, and who in the end makes a Heroic Sacrifice to save the Kids Next Door. A must-read for everyone who's ever wanted to balance both being a kid, and growing up.
    • Seconded by Numbuh9494. This fic, along with its various prequels and tie-in fics, are spectacular reads. The continuation flows perfectly along with where the show left off and the characters are well-written. The ending is satisfying and leaves a good, fuzzy feeling inside your chest, and, as stated by the troper above, each character really does get a powerful conclusion. Once you start reading, you can't put it down, and after you're done you'll want to read it over and over again (which I have, multiple times, over the past two or three years).
      • While I do like this fic, it does have some errors. The thing that startled me the most was 362's apparent drop off from the world. It seemed as if the author was just...'killing' her off so that Numbuh 5 could get to the position of Supreme Leader. And I was feeling the same thing with Numbuh 363.
      • Actually, if you read carefully, it is hinted at what happened to 362, and if you have read the lead-up fics to this, it is actually very sweet.
    • Thirded by KariGray. This fic is the ultimate KND fanfic. It brings back Sector V only BETTER. Deeper. The way they think and act makes sense. And not the oh-I-see-how-that-works kind but the HOW-did-I-not-SEE-that sense. The writer has a superb understanding of each character and their Hidden Depths. I love how Numbuh 1 is never there in being but always THERE at the back of their heads when they need him most. The writing is superb. And there are many a Moment of Awesome and Heartwarming. Plus, it has a Happy Ending, which I'm always a sucker for.

Operation LEUKEMIA by Tnelson 711

  • Recommended by Pichu
  • Vanished from the internet. Please post a link if found.
  • Synopsis: Nigel is sick and deluded. He believes that this Kids Next Door is real and that he is a member, but in reality, this is a dream, and he is a kid with Leukemia.
  • Comments: It's actually based off a Tvtropes WMG entry. I found it incredibly sad but somehow bittersweet. I loved it.
Note: (This fic no longer exists)

Broken by Crystal-Wings 404

  • Recommended by beeruckzII
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Just when Father thinks his life can't get any worse it does; when he finds out he has a biological child that he's now stuck with! But the bigger question is how is Sector V going to handle either having a new friend or enemy?
  • Comments: Crystal does an amazing job with this story! The OC's are interesting, Father stays in character, there's a few twists along the way and... Sector Z comes back!!!

Stolen Time by The Flying Red Panda

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: -"What about Numbuh 1? We can't tell him."- When 5 kids claiming to be from the future fall into Sector V's care, things start to get a little... weird. What secret are they hiding? Contains 3/4, 2/5, 1/362, and 83/84.

All He Has Left by Celestial Dragon in Flight

  • Recommended by Tomaton
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: This is a one-shot that focuses on Monty and Benedict a couple years after Grandfather's original defeat. It takes place on the morning of Numbuh Zero's 13th birthday.
  • Comments: A short but seriously well-written story. It also suggests an interesting theory for Father's Start of Darkness.

Alien Lunch by Scalene Waffles

  • Recommended by ladyofthelibrary
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Numbuh Vine has an interesting lunch with an unexpected ally turned fugitive.
  • Comments: Taking its cues from "Stop the G:KND", we're introduced to the idea that Numbuh 60/Patton Drilovsky is just as non-human as Lizzie but instead of being a plant person, his true form appears to be a Draconequus. The two of them begin the process of trying to find a way to stop the destruction of their adoptive planet and build an unexpected friendship along the way.

  • Synopsis: Chad, though not the Earth representative of the Galactic Kids Next Door like he was promised, is still with the organization as an instructor for Nigel. Over the course of their time in the GKND, Chad begins to notice changes with Nigel. What is he to do when Nigel's allegiance to the GKND threatens their home world?
  • Comments: A well-thought out story that feels almost like it could take place in canon.

When You're Evil by His Majesty The Emperor

  • Recommended by Darth YAN
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Ten years after Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S, on a cold winter night, two villains wonder if it was all worth it.
  • Comments: A surprisingly insightful look into both Mr Boss and Father, giving them some depth as they wonder whether their villainy is really even worth it. Shows a more human side to Mr Boss while giving Benedict the knowledge that he's just a pathetic broken man deep down.

Operation: C H O S E N O N E by Kieran Dell 1409

  • Recommended by Tropemaster849
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Set post series. Nigel Uno has joined the Galactic Kids Next Door, who have deemed his home planet to be too infested with adults to be safe for kids, and the threat must be contained. The decision is Nigel's to make.
  • Comments: I could really see G:KND going something like this. Nearly everyone is back and in character and it gives a bit more insight to character's motives. If you wanted to see how Galactic Kids Next Door could have turned out, give this a read.

Operation: FLAMBÉ À LA MODE by Numbuh Phenon

  • Recommended by Tropemaster849
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: You never hear about the work spies do. For example, before her reign as Supreme Leader, Rachel once had to sneak past a legion of ninjas to disable a death ray built by a rad clad child genius.
  • Comments: It's very easy to forget Numbuh 362/Rachel was a spy before she became Supreme Leader. This story shows why that's such a shame. Seeing Numbuh 362 out in the field and it not being a shipping story at all adds to the enjoyment. Add in a hilarious villain with a plan that would fit right in on the show, plus a bunch of spy movie cliches and you've got a great story.

Of Curses and Coupons by Numbuh Phenon

  • Recommended by Tropemaster849
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A simple errand goes horribly wrong, and now Sector V must work with stranger and enemy alike to defeat a deadly set of elderly spirits.
  • Comments: This is the funniest one-shot I have every had the pleasure of reading. Not only does it fit well in the silliness of the show, it creates a whole new idea that I don't think I've seen before or since. Well worth a read.

OPERATION C.0.D.3.N.A.M.E. by Emerald Butterfly

  • Recommended by tgsr
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Captured Operative’s Delightfulization Erases Name: Amnesia Might Endure

Safe Haven by elitegoeswortwortwort115

  • Recommended by Tropemaster849
  • Status: One shot
  • Synopsis: Two sisters bound by blood finally have a heartfelt talk.
  • Comments: There is only one word needed to describe this fanfic and it's adorable. The way that Cree slowly becomes more tender towards her sister throughout the story and even admits her own personal failings is nothing short of sweet and it shows that, for all their fighting, Abby and Cree are sisters and nothing changes that.

GKND Operation A.L.P.H.A. by KicaCris

Operation OPPOSITE by Numbuh Phenon

  • Recommended by: kittyface44
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: This amazing story is for all those 1/362 shippers out there, and even gives us a look at a certain Negaverse character who wasn't seen in Operation: P.O.O.L.. Strongly recommend reading its preceding story: Operation REBOUND first, though.

Last Mission, Part 1, 2 and 3 by alfredofroylan2.

  • Recommended by Ulathon
  • Status: Dead
  • Pairings: Wally and Kuki
  • Synopsis: Kuki is killed during an attempt to fend off an alien invasion of giant killer robots. The members of sector V are crushed and Wally realizes too late how much he loved her. But suddenly their love gets a second chance ...
  • Comments: The synopsis makes this very well-drawn fan comic sound like a major Tear Jerker, and it is. It is also quirky, moving and hilarious, frequently at the same time, and oddly realistic in the way it treats the relationship between Wally and Kuki. Sadly this is a Dead Fic as it ends mid-action and has not been updated since 2006, but before the end we are treated to some unforgettable images, such as a sad Hoagie painting over the number "3" on the treehouse wall and Wally sitting forlorn on the balcony clutching a red Rainbow Monkey Doll:
Nigel: I thought that you hated those monkeys.
    Wally: (quietly) Shut up.

Weddings Teams and Fortune tellers by .lazypencilleander.

  • Pairings: Nigel and Rachel and/or Nigel and Lizzie
  • Synopsis: When Lizzie discovers Nigel needs a stronger woman by his side, she does everything in her power to improve herself. Unknown to her, someone else also has a similar idea.
  • Comments: This is a different kind of shipping fanfic, it basically scales between Nigel dealing with Lizzie and Rachel, who are both competing for Nigel's affection without him knowing, it looks into the nature of Nigel being with either one of those girls without being too in-your-face about them. And as Rachel and Lizzie's competition somewhat goes further and further as the story goes on, making it likely you'd read further into the story just to see how it turns out in the end.

Finding Happiness by tater06

  • Pairings: Kuki/Wally
  • Synopsis: Kuki's life is full of loneliness and misery. She has lost all confidence and has grown shy, scared, and incredibly sad. All she wants is happiness. And Wallabee Beetles will be the person to give it to her.
  • Comments: Seconded. I was initially turned off by the first chapter because Kuki seemed really out of character, but I pressed on and was pleasantly surprised. All I can say is keep reading because the author does explain how Kuki got the way she's being written and the resulting character development is definitely worth sticking around for.

86x362 valentine by Crackpot Comics

  • Recommended by Ulathon
  • Pairings: Fanny and Rachel
  • Synopsis: Out of the blue, Numbuh 86 surprises Numbuh 362 with a Valentine's day gift.
  • Comments: Truly a picture that says more than a thousand words. The artist has captured the feelings of the moment you tell someone that you love them for the first time and are trembling for the response perfectly. Femslash, but feelings are independent of gender.

  • Pairings: Fanny and Rachel
  • Synopsis: Fanny and Rachel, now in the Teenagers Next Door, gradually realize that their feelings for each other are more than friendly. This does not sit well with some people.
  • Comments: Touching romance, kick-ass action, and humour, this fic has it all. Note that it gets quite dark and mature in some places.
    • Seconded for being such an astounding surprise. It definitely has the above-mentioned aspects, and the darker aspects are handled real nicely, as well as the interactions between characters and some of the modifications for those that went from kid to teenager. It's also evident the writer knows the KND series by heart, with a lot of references abound.

  • Synopsis: Wally has tried to say it twenty-nine times...you gotta hand it to him, the boy doesn't give up.
  • Comments: Well-written, witty, and maybe a touch dark, this fic manages to be remarkably sweet while holding the characterization. The very last chapter is a bit rushed, but the other twenty-nine are pretty darned good in their own right.

  • Comments: This fic can be very cute sometimes, with Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 362's feelings for each other and Numbuh 007 being a very interesting OC and a great love interest for Numbuh 86. Overall, a very good read.

  • Pairings: Nigel and Rachel
  • Synopsis: Rachel hates relationship rings because love is in the air and no one wants to share one with her. As she partners up with Nigel to find the legendary agent, Numbuh 777, they may stumble upon a heinous secret yet!
  • Comments: A well written and nice fic, but you will feel like the future chapters were rewritten to comply with the events of the series. The villains at first were clear cut, but then it mentions a group who didn't exist at when the fics was started. The second to last had a tone shift that wouldn't have existed if not for I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W. Which also makes the title and the ending a big coincidence. But it is a well written nice and fic.

  • Pairings: Nigel and Rachel.
  • Synopsis: It was just a stupid virtual program Numbuh 2 cooked up, some game that sounded like so much fun at first, but seemed ridiculous in retrospect. It was good for training, he supposed, with this game’s horror elements. Evading adult attack, checking surroundings by peeking around corners to be sure the face of the stupid little program and his stupid little blood-covered bat wasn’t close by. He wouldn’t have ever agreed to let Numbuh 362 step so much as one foot into the system if he’d known she was going to be like this. OR Rachel does not react well to horror games, and her tendency to cling to some faceless nobody operative is driving Nigel up a wall.
  • Comments: A mix of hilarity and fuzziness, mostly due to Numbuh 1 not realizing what exactly he's feeling when seeing Numbuh 362 clinging to other male operatives in order to deal with her weakness to jumpscares, yet also wanting to reassure her when push comes to shove.
