Some Mistakes Are Forever
Sunset's life after that dreaded Fall Formal has improved in every way. Everyone at CHS likes her, she has a loving group of close friends, and she finally feels like she can move on from her past mistakes.

That is until she stumbles upon a familiar face in an old yearbook and finds out he was one mistake she can never fix. Sunset had made amends with everyone else she hurt, but how can she forgive herself for a suicide she caused?

Some Mistakes Are Forever is a My Little Pony: Equestria Girls fanfiction written by Holy. Currently ongoing.

Tropes Are:

  • Acquitted Too Late: Sunset admits to have started false rumors about Solomon...but only after he takes his own life.
  • Deconstruction Fic: In canon, Sunset gradually earns the respect and trust of her friends back after Rainbow Rocks, and much of her evil deeds are forgotten. In this story, her actions had horrible consequences that can't be fixed.
  • Easily Forgiven: Soloman's mother doesn't hold a grudge against Sunset for what she did. Downplayed with Soloman's father, who spends a few chapters in Tranquil Fury mode, but calms down and tells Sunset she can do better.
  • Karma Houdini: Deconstruction. Sunset avoids any serious punishment for what she did...but this hurts her, not only because she wants to be punished, but because it is a sign of how forgotten Soloman was by Canterlot High.
  • Heroic BSoD: Sunset spends the whole story in this mode.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: To say Sunset's takes driving someone to suicide poorly is a massive understatement.
  • Tranquil Fury: Soloman's father, after hearing Sunset's confession...just becomes even more calm, but storms out of the house with an utterly hurt expression. Sunset admits this is much worse than being yelled at.
  • What Could Have Been: In-Universe, Sunset ruminates on what she could've done with Solomon had she reached out to him sooner.
