- Actually Pretty Funny: This is Nimona’s reaction when she finds out Ballister pretended she had been gone fifteen years when she was only gone for a couple of months.
- Cooldown Hug: Ballister gives Nimona a deep and loving hug when he sees her. In a twist of this trope, it is the crier, Ballister, who gives a hug.
- Deconstruction Fic: The events of the last movie are deconstructed, with people incredibly dismayed over the horrible behavior of the royals, with the royals forced to make governmental reforms or face the specter of revolution.
- The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized: Defied. Once the riots and revolts started in reaction to the behavior of the royals, the Institute passed enough reforms to pacify the population to a degree, but Ballister notes that more change is still on the horizon.
- Time Skip: The movie is set roughly a couple of months after the end of the first movie.
