No More Forgiveness
is a Dragon Ball Z Fan Fic written by The Masked Otaku that takes place right after the end of the series when Goku leaves to train Uub. Naturally, all of his friends just dismiss him as your 'typical Goku'.
But for his son Gohan, however, seeing his father leave abruptly again had triggered something in him: memories and feelings that he couldn't shake off until the point where he decided that... no more.
No More Forgiveness provide examples of:
- Accusation Fic: The fic serves this up for Goku and his behavior in canon, specifically his childish nature and inability to think about the long-term consequences, shows how a man who can be so brilliant on the battlefield, can be a poor father. It also shows us how his actions, especially his repeated absence, has greatly affected his family and Gohan in particular, which hich brings the latter to a breaking point where he decides to disown his father and not give him another chance.
- Bittersweet Ending: On the good side, Gohan manages to let go of his past trauma and find closure after his battle against his father while Goku, after losing to Gohan in their fight and finishing training Uub, takes his son's advice and genuinely improves to become a better father and spend time with his family and friends, eventually discovering that it is the place where he belongs, and he is actually happy about it. Despite this however, Goku's constant neglect proved too much for Gohan and the fiction ends with the latter never forgiving him and showing no signs of reconciliation between the two, with the last line of the fiction explicitly confirming that the fight was the last time they interacted and have now lived their own separate lives.
- Calling the Old Man Out: Goku is on the receiving end of this trope from Gohan as a result of his carelessness, negligence, and constant going out. All of which has had a serious effect on his family, especially Gohan.
- Deconstruction Fic: In many ways, this fic wildly deconstructs Goku's character in regards to his parenting decisions by showing how badly repeated abandonment would have affected Gohan greatly if he weren't so forgiving. The story centers around the idea that Goku wasn't really there for his son because half the time he's somewhere else, usually by choice. Gohan realizes that he doesn't want that kind of life anymore, especially for his family when Goku abruptly abandons his family to train with Uub, ultimately leading him to decide that he doesn't want anything to do with his father.
