- Canon Welding: Eezo is a specific variant of Psitanium, called Psitransium by humanity.
- Fusion Fic: Combines the universes of Psychonauts and Mass Effect into one world, with Eezo being a Psitanium derivative.
- Genre Savvy: At this point, Raz is fully aware of his and Lili's Weirdness Magnet status, and fully expects something to happen on their thirteenth anniversary, especially since they're opening a new Mass Relay that day. He's proven right when they run into some Quarians being attacked by Batarian pirates, incidentally humanity's first encounter with any sapient aliens, and need to intervene.
- 13 Is Unlucky: Zig-zagged. A lot of thirteens show up when humanity first meets aliens, including it being Lili and Raz's thirteenth anniversary, but the only unlucky ones are the Batarian pirates that they fend off from the Quarians.
- Weirdness Magnet: Even by Psychonauts standards, weird things tend to happen to Lili and Raz, especially on significant dates in their lives. Case in point, humanity's first encounter with with aliens is on their thirteenth anniversary.
- Wrong Context Magic: Human psychic abilities are completely different from the standard biotic abilities seen in the wider galaxy, being capable of doing things even the greatest Asari Matriarchs would be incapable doing, and also far more varied.
