After several months since the Federation took over the world and Rick left his family behind, Morty has had a peaceful, if not entirely happy, existence. But, after suffering a series of mysterious hallucinations and lapses in memory, Morty is starting to wish his grandfather would come back and explain it to him.

- Amnesia Episode: The fic centers around Morty having notable lapses in his memory.
- Doting Parent: Beth consoles Morty when she sees he’s had an accident that left him with a massive bruise on his eyes.
- Dream Intro: The story opens with Morty dreaming of seeing a reflection of himself telling him he is in over his head.
- Eyepatch of Power: Morty’s dream version has an eyepatch and has a more serious and confident demeanor than the real Morty.
- Eye Scream: Morty suffered a massive bruise over one of his eyes at the beginning of the story.
