House Of Bones is a Black Cat fanfic set in the mangaverse, in an alternate ending where Creed and his Apostles overthrew Chronos and succeeded in establishing a grip over the world.

It starts with Kranz, still alive and captured by the Apostles, being used as one of the Doctor's test subjects. Following this, it jumps to catch up with Rinslet and Baldor, who together decide to get the Hell out of Apostle controlled territory and find the other Chronos Numbers before the Apostles can track them down and finish what they started. And while Creed does intend on tracking down the remaining Numbers, he doesn't really have extermination on his mind. At least, not yet anyway...

House of Bones has examples of:

  • Achey Scars: A certain knife scar of Baldor's does seem to bother him.
  • Ax-Crazy: Considering who two of the main characters are; Baldor does beat a man to death with the butt of a pistol at one point. And of course there's Creed, who hits Train because he dares speak about Sephiria in a way Creed doesn't like.
  • Badass Bookworm: Eve is in this story, so obviously. More evident in a sidefic though.
  • Badass in Distress: Most of the Numbers end up like this, with Kranz and Nizer being the earliest ones.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Ah, Kranz.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Baldor's pretty pissed off at the fact that Kranz works with the Apostles to capture him. Possibly goes back earlier, since Kranz stabbed him before the story starts; Jenos doesn't think it was on purpose but Baldor has his doubts.
    • Charden ends up stabbing Creed in the back, though much less literally.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Mayor John Adair in the side story Winter's Chill
  • Gilded Cage: Creed's fortress ultimately serves as one for Train.
  • Good is Not Nice
  • Handicapped Badass: Jenos needs a cane to walk and Shao Lee loses an arm but they are, or were, Chronos Numbers and still have those skills.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners; Jenos and Nizer have stuck together after the collapse of Chronos and while on the run.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: All the chapters are named after characters or locations from The Last Unicorn
  • Island Base: Like in the source material. Creed has his reasons.
  • Killed Off for Real: Sven. Also counts as Killed Offscreen though his death is shown in a sidefic.
  • La RĂ©sistance: They exist. Currently operating from an underground bunker.
  • Mad Doctor: Starts off with one and he doesn't look to be getting any saner. On par with his canon self.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The Doctor is implied to be on the receiving end of one. Charden describes him as having no face left at the end.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Oh hi, Sephiria.
  • Sanity Slippage: Nizer seems to be going through this when he hallucinates a conversation with Ash, his dead partner.
  • Shout-Out: There's a tiny one to the plot of Fallout3
  • The Reveal: There have been a couple, though how surprising they are may vary. They include the reveal that Sephiria is still alive in the chapter Prince Lir, the reveal that Creed is collecting Chronos Numbers in King Haggard and the reveal that Kranz is Brainwashed and Crazy in The Hunters.
  • Your Head A-Splode: How Creed ultimately meets his end.
