- Culture Clash: Eda is aware of the different value systems that exist on Earth compared to the Boiling Isles due to the portal, but can't understand the idea that two girls in love could ever be considered questionable.

- Freak Out: Luz has an internal one once it sinks in that she and Amity were girlfriends.

- Non-Heteronormative Society: The Boiling Isles is a society with many variations is gender and sexual identity, with the concept of sexual discrimination being non-existent.
- Open-Minded Parent: Played With. Eda is more or less Luz’s surrogate mom and completely accepting of Amity’s relationship, but because Witches don’t have any concept of sexual discrimination.
- Parental Substitute: Eda is this for Luz, figuring how rather quickly that she was deeply in love with Amity.
