Forever He-Man is a Masters of the Universe fanfic by Evelyn CMB. Taking inspiration from an episode of the Filmation series where He-Man almost has the Power Sword destroyed, the story explores what could have happened if he did lose it—and now, Prince Adam and Cringer are no more, trapped in their powerful forms forever.

With Skeletor still making frequent attacks, the royal family and Teela wanting to know where Adam has gone, and the Eternian population being clueless as to what happened, He-Man must deal not only with that but the general loss of identity that's occurred since losing his former self.

It can be found here.

Forever He-Man provides examples of:

  • Arc Villain: Hordak is the main villain when He-Man goes to Etheria to find Adora.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Orko not being able to catch the sword in time locks Adam in He-Man form for life.
  • Likes Clark Kent, Hates Superman: Inverted with King Randor and Teela, who like He-Man but found Adam an exasperating, cowardly layabout at times, making reconciling their identities even harder.
  • Loss of Identity: Prince Adam essentially dies once the Power Sword is destroyed, and a lot of He-Man's idle time is spent grappling with what that means.
  • My Beloved Smother: Downplayed. When He-Man decides to stay at Castle Grayskull, Queen Marlena insists he take a chaperone because she doesn't approve of her son living with the Sorceress alone (even though she's old enough to be his mother).
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: While Skeletor's attacks are repelled, he does serious damage to the castle and He-Man at times, with his first attack since the loss being a catalyst for everyone finding out the truth.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Deconstructed, as He-Man's extraordinary strength comes in part from high levels of adrenaline, which wasn't ordinarily a problem because it left when He-Man turned back into Adam. With the sword gone, not only are his adrenaline levels off-the-charts and affecting his stress levels and strength, when it fades He-Man gets tremors that take a long time to subside.
  • Was It All a Lie?: He-Man's parents, and Teela, have this reaction upon learning the truth.
