Fairest
by afterandalasia is a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs oneshot. It was made for a Disney Kink Meme prompt about Snow White's prince regretting his marriage after finding out about Snow White's darker side.
The story is based on the traditional ending of the Snow White where the prince forces the Evil Queen to dance with boiling hot shoes on until she dies. Instead of the prince making the order, Snow White does.
Not to be confused wth the book Fairest.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Adaptational Villainy: Snow White has her step-mother tortured at her wedding. She smiles through it.
- Alternate Universe Fic: The Evil Queen doesn't have a Disney Villain Death. Instead, she survives her fall, is saved, heals, and is then killed by her daughter as a punishment.
- Ax-Crazy: Snow's chosen execution method is excruciatingly painful way to go out. There is no other reason why she should choose it unless she wanted the unpleasant way possible.
- Beneath the Mask: Beneath Snow’s loving serenity, she’s a vengeful sadist who gleefully watches her own stepmother die by her hands. It’s hinted at the dwarves and animals are aware she isn’t as all loving as she presents herself as they soon join her merriment. It’s heavily implied her stepmom was unsurprised by the turn of events as all she did was pleaded for her life.
- Best Served Cold: The queen has probably expected retribution from Snow White at some point since she’s not surprised by this vengeance in the least.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: For all the pain she's put Snow White through, the Evil Queen has fire hot shoes forced onto her feet. Snow has her dance for mercy, but she still dies nevertheless.
- Cute and Psycho: Beautiful and innocent as Snow White is, she will probably make you go through pain if you wronged her. Hey, at least she isn’t launching an Evil Laugh like Sound Horizon Marchen’s Snow.
- Dark Fic: Snow White is much darker than she seems. Just because she looks sweet and innocent doesn't mean that she is. She has the Evil Queen tortured to death and takes amusement in her painful death.
- Dissonant Serenity: Snow, the dwarves, the animals...
- Exact Words: Snow White wants her stepmother healed from her fall, citing she "doesn't want it to end like this". What she means is she wants her stepmother's death to be far more painful.
- Saying that she might spare her stepmother if she dances while wearing her burning shoes also counts; after all, Snow White only said "might", not "would".
- Fourth-Date Marriage: Deconstructed. The prince barely knows Snow White when he marries her. He doesn't know her true personality beneath her serene facade. When he learns about it on their wedding day, he's horrified.
- Hope Spot: Snow White tells the Evil Queen that if she dances while wearing her burning shoes, Snow White might spare her. Instead, she forces the woman to dance until she dies.
- Patchwork Fic: Fairest is a Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fanfic that uses the fairy-tale's original Grimm ending.
- Revenge: Snow’s primary motivation and partially the dwarves’ gleeful participation. And Snow’s animal companions.
- Stealth Insult: Snow White leaves the Evil Queen numerous flowers, supposedly for their beauty and fragrance. In reality, said flowers (lavender and marigolds) mean "mistrust" and "cruelty".
