Diary of a Wimpy Kid: 75 Years Later provides examples of:
- Adaptational Sexuality: Rowley is heavily implied to develop feelings for Greg at some point between the events of 25 Years Later and the current time.
- Ambiguous Situation: Is Rowley married with an woman or with a man? Greg's words say that he was holding hands with another man, but it's unknown if he was Rowley's husband or son.
- Belated Happy Ending: No matter what happens in the end, the story is ultimately this to both 25 Years Later and Rich And Famous, but in different ways:
- For 25 Years Later, Greg's love for Rowley is finally requited for him, even though Rowley is married to someone else.
- For Rich And Famous, Greg seems to have forgotten his hatred for Rowley probably due to the fact that he can't remember him.
- Bittersweet Ending: Regardless, Greg seems to have forgotten who Rowley is to him, but even with the fact that he cannot remember Rowley, he welcomes him with open arms.
- Distant Finale: For both 25 Years Later and Rich And Famous, taking even further at the year 2082.
- Flash Forward Fic: It takes place even later than the original fanfictions, nearly a century after the time period of the original books.
- Grand Finale: The final work in the 25 Years Later continuity.
- In Spite of a Nail: Regardless of how Greg's relation with Rowley goes, he ultimately reunites with him, but only after a long time.
- Walking Spoiler: In a rare example, the entire work is this to both 25 Years Later and Rich And Famous, as it is nigh-impossible to talk about it without spoiling the endings of both of them, and also reveals what is the final fate of Greg and Rowley's relationship.
- Wham Line:Rowley: "I loved you, too, Greg."
- Wham Shot: Greg and Rowley's faces not being drawn in contrast to his other drawings, showing that Greg has forgotten his relationship with Rowley.
