Death by the Golden Ticket is a crossover story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and And Then There Were None by Myrtle Mae Simmons on allpoetry.com, which is also being reposted on her AO3 account ETN Mystic. Set in early August of 1969 on a small island off the coast of Devon, the story follows five teenagers who were invited to the island by the one known as Mr. Wo. N. Ka. or Mr. Ka. Though they are the only ones present on the island, they all begin to meet their demises not long after their arrival.
Death by the Golden Ticket provides examples of:
- Another Man's Terror: Used multiple times to show the reason behind the guilt of the characters, as all five had murdered someone they knew before they came to the island.
- Children Are Innocent: Subverted as all five children have murdered someone, directly or not, with the possible implication of Cyril killing her sister in anger after the latter had hit her and broken off a promise in a drunken rage. However the rest could be interpreted as ones due to negligence, poor timing, or just not thinking.
- Death by Flashback: August, Veronica, Mitchell, and Cyril all have these to show who they murdered, why they did it, and how they did it. They are killed off moments later in a manner similar to their connected characters.
- Epilogue Letter: Used by Victoria as the farewell to the reader, as she plans to kill herself after the letter is written, leaving, as she says "an unsolved mystery on Golden Ticket Island".
- Fake Memories: Used twice by Victoria on both Mitchell and Cyril, by means of drugs.
