Carry Me
is a Young Justice (2010) fanfic series.
The plot revolves around the budding romance of Artemis and Dick Grayson, told from the perspective of both of them (with Rule of Drama shifts to secondary characters like Bruce and Jason).
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Always Chaotic Evil: The Joker, obviously. Bruce realizes this at the climax of 1,300 Feet Per Second and decides to kill him.
- Beta Couple: Jason and Tim.
- Broken Bird:Dick after the events of 1,300 Feet Per Second. It's a Literal Metaphor due to the Animal Motifs around the Batman and Robin.
- Canon Welding: As the series started before the cartoon's third season, Jason being alive and the Red Hood is this. Although by the start of the series, Jason is somewhat in friendly terms with the Bats.
- It also welds elements from The Killing Joke as Dick is the one that becomes Oracle due to Barbara was not shot in the YJ canon when the fic was written.
- Cruel Mercy: Bruce realizes killing the Joker would be giving him what he wants, so he decides to cripple the clown for life.
- Darker and Edgier: The series is darker than the cartoon it's based of and even darker than most versions of Batman.
- For starters Dick is brutally beaten, shot, his face disfigured and is crippled for life.
- After the event above Bruce tracks down the Joker with the intent of killing him. He beats the clown up and only does not kills him because being crippled for life is worse.
- Fallen Hero: Jason comes to realize that Bruce killing would trigger this trope at the end of 1,300 Feet Per Second.
- Fate Worse than Death: Dick becomes a victim of this, after being shot and brutally beaten by Sportsmaster and the Joker. Bruce also decides to give this to the Joker by crippling him for life.
- First-Person Perspective: All chapters are told from this perspective, regardless of the POV character.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After what happens to Dick,Bruce decides to kill the Joker. In fact, he only doesn't do that because making him a cripple is a Fate Worse than Death.
- Hotter and Sexier: The first two fics in the series have a Explicit rating while the ongoing third (so far) has a Mature rating.
- Slash Fic: The Beta Couple are Jason and Tim.
- Title Drop: Occurs in chapter 25 of 1,300 Feet Per Second when Sportsmaster shoots Dick with a shotgun.
