"Illya loves her family. Everyone in the Emiya Household was precious to her and she'd do anything to be with them longer. However, that wasn't something that her dying body would allow. So instead, Illyasviel's last wish was to at least play a certain game with Shirou, Sakura, and Rin – her favorite game – Elder Tale... So why are they waking up in the ruined streets of Akihabara?"
—Summary from FanFiction.Net

Bladed Horizon is is an ongoing Log Horizon and Fate/stay night crossover fanfic by Saraak. He also happens to be the same author of another ongoing Fate/stay night crossover fic with My Hero Academia called My Ideal Academia.

Takes place a year after the events of Heaven's Feel.

Illyasviel is going to die in several days, no way around it. But rather dwell on the unfairness of it all, she decides to spend her last remaining moments with her family playing a popular MMORPG called Elder Tale. But it seems life has a different fate in store for her as she and her family consisting of Shirou, Rin, and Sakura are transported to the fantasy world alongside all the other players who happened to be logged in at the time.

Confused, but also grateful at the second chance without the grim fates that would have awaited them all back in their original world.

Unmarked spoilers for the Heaven's Feel route of Fate/stay night below.

Tropes:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Two flavours:
    • On the one hand, Shirou and Rin. Since they don't really understand the game mechanics, they apply real-world knowledge to their new abilities from the start, allowing Rin to come up with her own spells, revolutionising magic knowledge even among the landers, and Shirou to develop his skill as a blacksmith in leaps and bounds, and later on developing Overskills.
    • Adventurers as a whole run on this since they themselves don't know how to use their skills and spells, but their bodies do. The MP cost turns out to come out from this automation. When Shirou starts trying to perform the movements associated with Swashbuckler skills on their own, without using the skills, he diminishes or outright ignores their MP cost.
  • Adults Are Useless: Taiga is hit hard by this. She admits to feeling useless in the face of Shirou and Sakura being deeply entrenched in Magi affairs and her confidence takes a nose dive when she feels that Illya is doing a lot more and stepping up to plate, compared to her who happens to be one of the oldest members of the group.
  • The Berserker: Krusty, Illya, and any other individual who chose the Berserker class in Elder Tale by the time they are transported to Elder Tale. It gets to the point that Illya starts getting headaches because she hasn't been venting her berserker rage as much as she should have.
  • The Dreaded:
    • After the May Incident, the Landers soon become fearful of the now sentient Adventurers' who are lashing out at everyone and everything after suddenly being transported to a world that they once thought of as being a game.
    • Illya is this to everyone who learns just how far she would go to maintain some semblance of control over the other players to keep them in check during the meeting to create the Round Table. Her former Guild Master describes in horror that what she was doing was blackmail. Before that, Shiroe was completely freaked out when he realized that there was a third party whose schemes threatened to undermine his own plans before he even presented them to the other, much bigger guilds.
  • Pungeon Master: Krentelfal, a ghost NPC that joins Illya early on, is one. To the detriment of many, though Illya herself finds his brand of humour in good taste, having kept her company during long sleepless nights.
  • Your Days Are Numbered:
    • Illya at the beginning of the story would have died in several days had she not been transported to the world of Elder Tale alongside her loved ones and everyone else logged in at the time. Thanks to her deciding that she wanted to spend the remaining moments of her life with her family, she saved her life as well as averted the eventual grim fates of the others.
    • As mentioned above, it was only a matter of time before the others met inevitable ends. Shirou's grafted arm was slowly killing him while Sakura could barely control the corruption of the grail. Pointed out by Rin who doesn't mind remaining in Elder Tale because of this.
