‘’Avenger’s Man of Tomorrow
’’ is a Superman/Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover by The1whoknox.
For most of his life, Carter knew that he was a child of the Stark family or dynasty, depending on your point of view. But as Carter realizes he has powers beyond any normal man, he wonders if he has a destiny beyond merely running the family business.
’’Avenger’s Man of Tomorrow’’ contains the following examples:
- Adaptation Name Change: Superman’s human birth name is “Carter” instead of “Clark.”
- Goo-Goo-Godlike: Even as an infant, Carter was a force to be reckoned with. He broke Howard’s finger, and his crying was powerful enough to shake the walls of the Carter estate. Howard has to design toys made out of thick steel to keep Carter from breaking them.
- Human Aliens: It is lampshaded by several characters that Carter looks incredibly human for a being that crash-landed onto Earth.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Howard Stark was naturally cold and reluctant to adopt a random alien child. But eventually, he came around to being Carter’s parent, even being horrified at the prospect of a government agency treating Clark like a lab rat.
- Papa Wolf: Despite starting out being wary of raising another kid, Howard becomes very protective of his adoptive son and urges Peggy to keep Carter’s powers a secret, not wanting his son to be shuttled off to the government lab.
- Women Are Wiser: Howard Stark was a competent businessman and industrialist, but he lacked emotional intelligence. Maria, however, was far closer to her birth son and happy to take in her adopted alien son.
