* Comments: Another retelling of the X series, but this one features [[ForWantOfANail another major change]]: instead of just finding X, Dr. Cain also finds Roll during his dig, and she's rebuilt shortly after X's awakening in a new body with her memories transferred. The story delves a lot more in X's life since his awakening up to his joining of the Maverick Hunters as well as the origin and development of the Reploids prior to the time of the games' canon, making plenty of callbacks to the Classic series. Moreover, it also expands more of the Human-Reploid relationships that the X series games largely left aside. It also includes references aplenty to other media, such as the mangas, Archie Comics and more.

* ''Synopsis'': In an AlternateUniverse where Dr. Albert Wily didn't become the evil mastermind bent on world domination and stayed as Dr. Light's associate and partner in action [[ForWantOfANail because of one small change in our timeline]], is it possible for Mega Man and the battles for everlasting peace to still exist? The answer: [[InSpiteOfANail Yes]]. How? Well, why don't you take a look and see for yourself?

* Comments: Really impressive for something that started out simply as a way to get back into the swing of things for the author. It currently spans all of Mega Man 1/Powered Up and is in the middle of Mega Man 2. While DarkerAndEdgier than Mega Man normally is (which could be a turn-off for some people), it doesn't [[TooBleakStoppedCaring veer too far into darkness to induce apathy]]. The original characters don't steal the spotlight and add depth to the setting, including Shoegaze, a [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots Ridiculously Human Robot]] even by Mega Man standards who forms a strange friendship with Blues and is part of one of the fic's new ongoing subplots. The author is open to criticism and has even gone back to edit and redo entire portions of writing in order to improve it. All-in-all, it's a great fic that has the potential to get even better.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into shipping or [[BetterThanCanon non-canon]] territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, {{Shipping}} is SeriousBusiness.

* Comments: An interesting retelling AU of the first game in the X series, which gives more depth on both the heroes and villains motivations. The first four chapters act as a prologue of sorts that recount more or less the events in the Day of Sigma OVA, while it also features characters from later games such as [[VideoGame/MegaManX4 Iris and the Repliforce army]] [[VideoGame/MegaManX5 Alia]], [[VideoGame/MegaManXCommandMission Nana]], and even [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/MegaManZero2 Elpizo]]]]. It also includes some OriginalCharacters like a female Maverick Hunter named Nellia, and a female scientist called Professor Kristine Rimmer (who takes Dr. Light's place as the creator of X, as well as Dr. Cain's role as the creator of the Reploids as a whole). Some minor errors here and there, but overall a very engaging read.

''The MI9 Trilogy'' (so far) by Eric Lawson

* ''Comments'': Although primarily a shipping fic, the story is written in a [[SesquipedalianLoquaciousness professional]] and extremely [[ScheduleSlip thoughtful]] manner to such a degree that the entire cast acts both realistically and true to canon. Mostly taking place in both the present and as flash backs in Elysium from Mega Man Trigger's POV. Even while the Elysium flash backs are effectively Traingham's own creation, the entire city and all of it's occupants are crafted carefully. All the while making use of the usual Expy Overload that takes place in the Mega Man Series. Naturally, opinions [[CrackPairing on the]] [[FoeYay parings]] may differ from reader to reader but the writer's prose makes it a much easier pill to swallow. Overall? It's not Legends 3 but it's damn close.

* ''Comments'': I found Aria6 years ago and always enjoyed their stories even if alot of them never were finished or sometimes bucked against accepted canon. They made especially the X universe feel much more real and alive than what just the games showed. I especially reccomend The Lives of Average Reploids for a look into the parts of the X universe never portrayed or only hinted at.
