* The very first line of the first ever installment of WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd, opening the "review" of VideoGame/CastlevaniaIISimonsQuest:
--> "This game sucks."
* Sarah's StickEmUp prank in the lonelygirl15 episode "Crazy Emo Chick".
* Simon Wood's first scene on the island in Roleplay/SurvivalOfTheFittest sets up his central theme: coming close to succeeding then falling at the final hurdle.
* Captain Hammer in WebVideo/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog has one of these every single time he's on camera! Almost as if Creator/JossWhedon wanted to really Pun hammer home the point about what a creep he is...
* Most of the main characters in the WhateleyUniverse get them:
** Chaka starts off as a young black teenager sharing a room with his unpleasant older brother, and turning into a pretty girl...turning into a mutant...having to leave home and go to a SuperheroSchool...and he's thrilled to death about every bit of it.
** The headmistress, Dr. Elizabeth Carson, gives the welcome speech and immediately comes across as someone you'd better not cross. Then later on, at Halloween, we meet her other identity, Lady Astarte, and we find out she's really someone you shouldn't tick off.
** Trevor James Goodkind is a ShelteredAristocrat, heir to billions in a wealthy anti-mutant business family and being groomed to be one of the Goodkinds who takes over the reins of power. We first see him and his family at dinner, being waited on, having a staff of chefs, and Trevor is plotting about how, when he grows up, he's going to get his favorite chef to come with him when he moves out. The next morning, he manifests as a mutant and things rapidly go downhill from there, with a series of BreakTheHaughty scenes.
* The first episode of TheGuild is just a long string of these for each of the characters, first establishing Codex with her weblog:
-->Codex: So, it's uh Friday night, and...still jobless, yay. I haven't left the house in a week. My therapist, uh, broke up with me. Oh yeah, there's a, there's a Gnome Warlock in my living room, sleeping on my couch.
* The Emperor's first lines in WebVideo/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice pretty much tell you all you have to know about him.
-->ABOUT FUCKING TIME. I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT.
* Mecha Sonic's first appearance in WebAnimation/SuperMarioBrosZ involved him vaporizing a poor Goomba at point blank range to retrieve a Chaos Emerald. That's probably the nicest thing he's done in the series so far.
* Zack from WebVideo/EchoChamber gets his before the opening credits roll on Episode 1:
--> Tom: Thank you, Zack, for ruining the 20th take.
--> Zack: You're welcome, man.
--> Tom: You're not sorry, are you?
--> Zack: Nope.
* Even though she's much more developed now, WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick's massive ego was seeded with her very first line:
--> Hi, I'm your Nostalgia Chick, and I, like most of the world, am an American."
** Likewise, WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic's SadClown-ness started with him being DrivenToSuicide at a dumb song in ToTheRescue.
* In the very first game the LetsPlay/MarioPartyTV group played, Mr. Doom won the board and Holms, in his anger, RageQuit the game (by shutting the entire game off). Sets the tone, don't it?
* Episode 2 of WebAnimation/RWBY has several in quick succession. Given the show's short runtime, the writers pretty much had to do this.Weiss Schnee is introduced harshly berating Ruby for an innocent mistake (and, incidentally, boasting about the Schnee family's status and wealth). Blake hears the commotion and closes a book that she's reading, walking over to defend Ruby and scornfully pointing out the history Weiss' family has of slavery and FantasticRacism. Weiss leaves and Ruby tries to thank Blake, only to find that she's already walking away. Jaune helps Ruby up and the two bond over how Adorkable awkward they feel.
** In Episode 3, Nora is introduced as an playful, fiercely energetic girl...whose response to being catapulted into a forest teeming with ferocious monsters is to smile gleefully.
** The Yellow trailer acts as Yang's. She walks casually into a BadGuyBar, uses a GroinAttack to get information, laughingly flirts with the same guy she was attacking seconds before, then punches him in the face for no particular reason. She then fights off the guy, his mooks, and leaves, greeting Ruby outside the bar.
** Ruby herself has one in the first episode, in which she reads a magazine with her hood up while listening to music as a robbery is taking place. When one of the Mooks approach her she throws him out a window, clicks off her music, and pulls out her scythe rifle, fighting them off and chasing after the leader. Once a Huntress intervenes she immediately squees and asks for her autograph.
** Glynda Goodwitch steps in to defend a teenage would-be hero, calmly stops bullets with an elaborate magical shield, nearly shoots down a mob boss's airship with her magic, and then sternly tells the girl not to get into trouble again. This minute and a half tells us that Glynda's a badass sorceress, protector of the peace, stern yet fair, and more than worthy of her position as Team Good's lieutenant.
** Coco casually walks up to a hulking Grimm and says, "You destroyed my favourite clothing store. PrepareToDie." Then she beats it up with her handbag. Which is also a minigun.
* Intentionally tactless in WebVideo/SenpaiClub: "My name is Tsumiki Domen. I'm 15 years old. My birthday is February 14! Beef bowls are my favorite food, and my blood type is A!" All in the first few seconds of the series.
* In Blog/ThingsMrWelchIsNoLongerAllowedToDoInAnRPG, the very first entry gives the reader a very good idea of the kind of person Mr. Welch is:
-->1. Cannot base characters off Music/TheWho's drummer Keith Moon.
* In Literature/DreamHighSchool, most of the characters have one very soon after they're introduced.
** Corliss' second line:
--->She gasps excitedly. "You're from Central High, right?!"
** Gavin:
--->One of them tenses, his shoulders shooting up. He turns around slowly, his face downturned but eyes glaring up at Corliss'.
** Nara, when she gets Corliss off your back:
--->"Hey, no problem, that's what best friends are for! I can tell you're stressed out."
** When Micah explodes on Page 14:
--->"Look, you don't even have any friends besides Nara, and all you do is hole up with her in this house! You need to get out there and make more friends, and here's the perfect, lowest-risk opportunity to do it! You're a loner, a loner! And you've been this way ever since Mom died, and I'm-" he uses a passion word I never thought he'd use- "sick of it!"
** Principal Wyatt, when she talks to you about the dream scenery on page 24.
** When Iris leads the group of actors your way on Page 27.
--->"Iuh- saw you swoop in yesterday night. THAT was funny! Uh, anyway, you'll probably be joining US! WE'RE THE DWARRVES!"
** Roy's introduction:
--->"...Roy."
** Aidan tries to bug you as soon as you meet.
--->Aidan gets in my face with a giant smirk: "Jiiiiiiiii-dooooooooww? Or do you prefer to go by 'Grok'?"
