* Despite being relevant to only one Side Adventure, Cece is popular with fans for being a progressive fashionista with a quirky fascination with mushrooms. She also gifts Link a hat that makes him look like a DragQueen, much to the delight of the LGBTFanbase and anyone who missed the Gerudo outfit from BOTW.
* [[spoiler:"Yiga Zelda"]] only makes two brief appearances throughout the game; on the Dueling Peaks during the Lucky Clover Gazette questline, and later as an out-of-the-way EasterEgg on the Great Plateau. Despite her limited screentime, she was well-received by players and became a popular subject for fanart, typically featuring her as a more LaughablyEvil to contrast with .
* Colgera (Wind Temple) gets this for being seen as a good StarterVillain, his design and powers, and his MemeticBadass glitch where his HP bar stands in for Ganondorf's.

* The Hero's Shade. It only appears a handful of times to teach Link some new sword techniques, but its badass atmosphere and possible connections to Ocarina of Time (he's all but confirmed in Hyrule Historia to be the Hero of Time-era Link) meant those segments were well remembered.

Not an example. The entry itself notes how Daphnes is vital to the plot of the game.

* King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule. A tragic figure, and one of the only kings in the series to actually get involved in the action; namely by stepping in at the last moment to completely screw over Ganondorf's plan for world domination. On top of that is the novelty of his boat form, which became even better when it was revealed you could fight with him as a boat in Hyrule Warriors.

Ensemble Darkhorse is "minor character who becomes unexpectedly popular despite not being important to the story". Ganondorf and Vaati are the main antagonists of these two games, so they obviously do not fit this trope.

[[AC: Four Swords]]

* Vaati is one of the franchise's most popular villains, due to the fact that he is the only other recurring villain aside from Ganon himself to be the BigBad. This same fanbase has expressed hope he will make a jump to 3D someday. In spite of his limited appearances, he's a popular character to be featured in fanfiction, ranging from Princess Zelda's StalkerWithACrush to an ally to Ganon.

* This game's particular incarnation of Ganondorf also gets a lot of love. Unlike the other entries in the series, where he's pretty much a one-note conqueror or mindless pig-beast, this Ganondorf is a centuries-old (though he looks middle-aged because of the Triforce of Power), long-suffering, philosophical man with a powerful FreudianExcuse: his desert homeland was constantly plagued with death and decay, and his desire to enter Hyrule was largely a wish to dwell in a place where life could thrive. He also shows some noble traits, such as not killing Zelda or Link (he only wants to take their Triforce pieces) and rightfully pointing out that Hyrule's "old gods" wiped out a massive portion of the population of the kingdom by flooding the world; it's stated that only a few people managed to make it to the mountaintops. Even his different physical design--he has an expressive, almost weary face and mixture of muscle and fat--is unique among other Ganondorfs, and lends itself to a samurai-like fighting style that makes for an amazing boss battle. Granted, he's still a kidnapper and villain who's willing to burn away the whole Great Sea because he can't let go of the past, but there's a lot more depth to him than usual, which has made him a fan favorite.

Ensemble Darkhorse is "minor character who becomes unexpectedly popular despite not being important to the story", not any popular character other than the protagonist. Midna, Linebeck, Byrne and Groose are all major characters in their games, have their own character arcs and go through significant character development.

* Midna is well-liked by quite a large chunk of the fanbase for being a snarky NominalHero who undergoes CharacterDevelopment, as well as subverting SaveThePrincess when it's revealed that she's the titular Twilight Princess. Her Twili form is also liked for being BeautifulAllAlong, though her imp form also has plenty of fans. When she was literally the fourth character revealed for VideoGame/HyruleWarriors, you can bet the fans collectively lost their minds.

[[AC: Phantom Hourglass]]

* While he has only had one appearance in the entire franchise, Linebeck is very beloved by both fans and the staff, which has led to him and his awesome theme getting a variety of call-backs, even getting an IdenticalGrandson to continue his legacy.

[[AC: Spirit Tracks]]

* Following in the footsteps of Midna and Linebeck, Byrne became popular thanks to receiving character development, and being a rare instance of a major heel-turning villain in the series.

* Groose was already liked a lot for being a humorous, hammy rival to Link. Then he dropped the attitude, accepted that he wasn't the hero of the story, and went on to help Link kick some Imprisoned ass, thus soaring up to one of the most beloved characters from the game.
