** Goku is in his late thirties going on forty (although since he was dead for seven years he is physically younger), while Vegeta is in his mid-forties. After training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for three years, Goku regains some of the years he lost being dead, while Vegeta is physically five years older than he really is (he already spent two years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber during the Cell Saga). They don't look it. Goku and Vegeta both looked to be in their earlier thirties. {{Justified}} since Saiyans age slower than humans.

** The preview for episode 119 made it seem that the whole Universe 7 fighters struggle against the last three Universe 4 members including Vegeta who almost got knocked out by the invisible fighters. Come the episode itself, they were all treated as just another fighter with gimmicks and were pretty much disposed out of the arena once they were found. Additionally while the tone from previous episodes implies that once they appear, Universe 7 would be in danger, in this episode they were pretty much treated as slapstick and is never taken seriously by the narratives.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Hit is a [[ProfessionalKiller legendary assassin]] who is so [[TheDreaded feared]] that Frost is terrified when he sees him. [[spoiler: This is the same person who threw spades at two Gods of Destruction]]. Without even trying, he knocks Frost out and the next time we see Frost, he's moping in his seat. [[spoiler: Given that Frost is revealed to be a BitchInSheepsClothing who indirectly murdered millions if not billions of people in the wars he starts, just so he can buy and sell the planets he ruins, and he was trying to steal the prize treasure from the other fighters from U6 and takes Champa's space cube, what Hit gives him is extremely merciful]].

* OverprotectiveDad: When Mr. Satan and Yamcha accidentally make the newly-born Bra cry, Vegeta instantly reacts by transforming into Super Saiyan Blue.

* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: The Trio De Dangers from Universe 9 are a trio of three brothers who are werewolves with one of them having the ability to poison people with his breath and is also able to imbue his attacks with said poison by breathing on them, and the eldest brother having an EnergyAbsorption ability. They are also the strongest fighters from their universe.

** Chi-Chi in Episode 18. Gohan and Hercule were perfectly happy throwing baby Pan back and forth. Videl was perfectly happy watching them. Pan was perfectly happy to be perpetually airborne. Chi-Chi was the only one who walked in the room going 'You guys are throwing a BABY.' Though granted, Gohan did strike a point about Pan's Saiyan blood probably enough to keep her from any real danger.

*** Chichi and Goten becomes concerned when Goku only eats half what he usually does (which is still of course [[BigEater a vast amount]]). It's revealed that he's sick with Delayed Onset Ki Syndrome.

*** When Goku seemingly has Black at his mercy, he pauses for several seconds before deciding to kill Black. This is ''extremely'' out of character since Goku doesn't attack a downed foe and often gets on Vegeta for attacking people who can't defend themselves. Which is understandable since [[spoiler: Black murdered his family in another timeline after stealing his body]].

*** In Episode 71, Goku's family become concerned by his very uncharacteristic behavior, such as eating his dinner one grain of rice at a time, being so sensitive to sensing life energies that he can sense cockroaches in the kitchen, and wandering aimlessly through the city while doing errands, all with his eyes closed. He's also unusually jumpy, dodging when Bulma tries to slap him instead of getting hit as usual. [[spoiler: This is all because he knows Hit is coming to kill him and is trying to sense the assassin's presence]].

*** When Vegeta kills Ginyu instead of having his usual glee when he murders someone, he seemed more angry and disgusted.

** Beerus is closed to freaking out when he realizes that Goku is his last great fighter since Monaka [[spoiler: was just brought along to motive Goku and Vegeta, and he isn't very strong]].

* OurGodsAreDifferent: There are many different types of gods in the ''Dragon Ball'' universe. There are gods like Denda who watched over a planet and are appointed to the position, so they're not born gods. The Kais are the Gods of Creation who watch over mortals and guide them, as well as create new planets. They are also the only beings who are born gods, but must be appointed to positions of authority over specific regions. Their counterparts are the Gods of Destruction, whose job it is to destroy planets to make room for new ones and they can freely interact with mortals and even kill them. The series hasn't explained where they come from, but has implied they are appointed from mortal stock, like the planet guardians. The person who runs all of this is Zen'o who rules the entire multiverse and can destroy it in an instant.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: The Trio De Dangers from Universe 9 are a trio of three brothers who are were-wolves with one having the ability to poison people with his breath and the eldest brother having an EnergyAbsorption ability. They are also the strongest fighters from their universe.

** [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] manages be this since while [[spoiler: Goku Black and Future Zamasu were godly beings]], they were still both trained martial artists and fought like one. Merged Zamasu on the other hands fights like a RPG final boss with him summoning a GuardianEntity that shoots lightning, raining down energy blasts, and throwing spears that explodes when they hit the ground. This is not even getting into his [[OutsideContextProblem final form]] that is straight out of a CosmicHorrorStory.

** There have been gods introduced in the series. However, all of them have been benevolent and eventually surpassed by the Saiyans outside of Trunks and Goten. Then, there is Beerus who can only be described as the [[TopGod god of gods]]. Even the strongest Supreme Kai was only equal with Majin Buu and Beerus is so much more powerful that he makes Super Saiyan 3 Goku look like an insect. Even Goku becoming a god himself isn't enough to slow him down. Not since Frieza have there been such a tier different between the heroes and villain. On top of that, his servant Whis is even stronger, and both have {{Evil Twin}}s from Universe 6 who are just as strong as their counterparts.
** Little is known about [[spoiler: Goku Black's]] motives or where he comes from. He just appeared one day and started slaughtering humanity in the name of 'justice'. He also appears to grow stronger from fighting and getting injured. On top of that, he has [[MagicalAccessory accessories]] only used by the Kais like a Potara earring and a Time Ring. Even Beerus and Whis are confused by what [[spoiler: Goku Black]] is, and Whis suspects that he's a creations of the Super Dragon Balls. A large part of the Future Trunks Saga is devoted to unveiling who or what Black is, how he relates to Zamasu, and how he's connected to Goku. TheReveal clears his identity and motives up, while showing just how much this trope he truly was. [[spoiler:He's not only from another universe entirely, something Trunks didn't even know ''existed'' when he showed up, he's not even from the same ''timeline'' as ''any'' of the heroes at this point]].

* OverprotectiveDad: When Mr. Satan and Yamcha accidentally make the newly-born Bra cry, Vegeta instantly reacts by transforming in to Super Saiyan Blue.

** Gohan get this thanks to his InUniverse BadassDecay, which prevents him from accessing his Ultimate form. He is still very powerful and easily beats Captain Ginyu even after he unleashes Tagoma's body full power. Against Frieza, however, he is shot full of holes and would have died if Piccolo hadn't shielded him. To add further salt to the wound, even if Gohan had trained and maintain his power, he still would have been little match against the freshly trained Frieza.

** Poor Universe 9 gets hit by this hard. Much like Universe 6, the Trio De Dangers are very strong with Lavenda and Bergamo particularly having unique abilities that can disabled or matched the strongest fighters in Universe 7. However, the power different between Buu, Gohan, and Goku is just too much for them to overcome. Lavenda did the best out of the three by getting a tie match with Gohan.

** Hit will not toy around with his targets, prefering to end his battles or kill his targets as efficiently as possible. At least, until he finds a WorthyOpponent. This is shown perfectly in Episode 71 when we see him in the middle of a hit job on a local crime boss. He uses Time Skip to bypass all the boss' security guards and reach his target, calmly tells said target that he's hired to kill , then promptly punches a hole through said target's chest, killing him instantly.

*** Unlike all the other ''Dragon Ball'' villains, he isn't in the habit of telling people about his motives. Although he tells Future Trunks he wants to wipe out mortals on the gods' behalf because he sees them as failures, he doesn't say how he came to this conclusion. He's also tight-lip about his origins. He give hints about how his current body isn't his natural state, but that's about all he's willing to say on the subject and refuses to answer Goku's questions when asked about his statements. [[spoiler: When he does reveals who he is, he says that he killed the original Goku, unlike Ginyu who tends to keep his victims alive]]. Furthermore, [[spoiler: when he talks about his origins, he says he killed all the other gods, leaving only Future Zamasu alive, and destroyed the Super Dragon Balls once he used them to give Future Zamasu immortality, much like King Piccolo did back in ''Dragon Ball'']].

* OctopoidAliens: The Galactic King resembles a large green octopus wearing a crown.
* OctopoidAliens: The king of the galaxy is basically an octopus wearing a crown. Interestingly, one of his tentacles is a penis, just like real-life octopuses, something Goku learns after [[GreetingGestureConfusion trying to shake his "hand"]].

** Out of the entire cast, Goku is the only one not terrified of Beerus and is [[CasualDangerDialogue quite cheerful even when Beerus is about to blow up the planet]], although, during their first fight Goku was left shaking when Beerus glared at him. At the same time, that same glare completely paralyzed Vegeta. Later, when Future Trunks and he are trapped between [[spoiler: Goku Black and Future Zamasu]], he calmly tells Trunks that they [[ThisIsGonnaSuck really stand no chance, and the best they can hope for is to stay alive long enough to come up with a plan]]. In the Universal Survival Saga, when Beerus actually threatened to 'Destroy' him, using the same technique he used against [[spoiler: Present Zamasu]], Goku glares at Beerus without any fear. Keep in mind, Goku saw this technique first-hand dissolved a person, [[CruelAndUnusual slowly]].

** The Dragon Balls, mystical artifacts that can grant almost any wish, have been reduced to a Bingo prize.

* MundaneMadeAwesome: Bulma protects the Earth from Beerus in her own way. Namely, by bribing Whis with food so that he can convict Beerus not to destroy Earth. [[NiceJobBreakingItHero This backfires slightly since Champa now wants the Earth in his universe so he can have all the food]].

** When Trunks want to show Goten the first prize for Bingo, they can't get near it because it's surrounded by a laser security system. Trunks gets around this by pulling the plug.

* OffModel: Like many of Creator/ToeiAnimation works, it has some examples:
** Episode 5 has some ''very'' off model animations. These vary from Goku's perspective making him appear five times bigger than he's supposed to be to Beerus getting a Voldemort face. This is later fixed in the [=DVD=] release.
** [[spoiler: Fusion Zamasu's time]] ring disappears during some shots. This wasn't fixed on the DVD release, and the manga version simply didn't add the ring.
** Beerus in episode 82 looks more like a jackal than a cat.
** Many of the characters PointyEars tend to be drawn as normal ears in some shots. Universe 4 fighter Ganos appears with normal ears in the 9th ending.
** Frieza tend to gain his Golden Form eyebrows during some shots during the Tournament of Power.

** Hit is a rather serious warrior and martial artist. His name is actually a pun on "Hitman", as he's a legendary hit man. When his name was first translated into Roman characters, it was [[NoPronunciationGuide mistranslated]] as "Heat", making it seem like he had a connection with Frost. Needless to say, both notions were quickly corrected.

** [[spoiler: A common character trait of all forms of Zamasus]]. Goku Black [[spoiler: (who is a version of Present Zamasu)]] is the least narcissist, but after he transforms into a [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose]], he goes into a long monolog about how beautiful he's become. [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] goes on long {{Motive Rant}}s about how much mortals suck and how he's justice, not caring if anyone is even listening to him, and [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] takes all these traits UpToEleven, talking about how beautiful the gods are even as he deforms.

* NonchalantDodge: Ultra Instinct, a state that's difficult for even ''gods'' to master, is basically this ''[[UpToEleven personified.]]'' [[spoiler:When Goku breaks his limits and gains a transformation resembling this state]], he dodged Toppo's Justice Flash simply by ''turning and walking.''

* NotGoodWithRejection: Taken UpToEleven. Everything Barry Kahn does, [[spoiler:both before and after he's possessed by Watagash]], is purely because Videl, a ''married'' woman, shot him down when he tried hitting on her.

** Upon his introduction, [[spoiler: Goku Black]] has already eradicated most of humanity, and is about to finish off the last survivors when the story picks up. He outright tells Future Trunks that he's destroyed many planets, along with their inhabitants, before coming to Earth. Even more, [[spoiler: Future Zamasu and he wipes out the other gods in the future timeline to become 'supreme gods' and the only authority left in the multiverse]]. In his mind, this is all [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans justified]] in that he wants to create a perfect universe, and mortals are mistakes of the gods. Although, in truth, this is all just an excuse to reshape the multiverse in his image. [[spoiler: His fusion counterpart, Merged Zamasu, is all this UpToEleven. He starts to destroy parts of the planet he wants to 'protect' just to show off]].

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: ''Dragon Ball'' already had a huge cast to the point that Toriyama [[OutOfFocus doesn't bother to keep up with most of them]], but ''Super'' has the most impressive number of new characters even compared to the original manga. The Universal Survival Saga alone introduces all the Gods of Destruction, their angels, the Supreme Kais making twenty-nine characters in total, and that isn't getting into all the characters who will actually be fighting in the Tournament of Power. If all the competing universes being full teams, that is sixty-five characters, meaning that the Universal Survival Saga brings in nearly [[UpToEleven one-hundred new characters]] to the ''Dragon Ball'' series.

* MismatchedEyes: After [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu's]] immortality fails to fully heal his right side, his right eye becomes purple with yellow sclera.
