Sunny Side Up is an upcoming Tile/Card-based Video Game by developer Arc.fish. It is available for Android, iOS and Windows 10.

The tile basically consists of two types:

  • Weather Tiles, which have a Sunny and a Cloudy side. If the Sunny side is up it increases the radiance of all flowers in a 3 tile range by 1. If the Cloudy side is up, it instead decreases the radiance of those flowers by 1.
  • Flower Tiles, which have a Blooming side and a Drooping side. Most flowers can be flipped to their blooming side if they are in range of more Sunny tiles than Cloudy tiles (that is, if their radiance is greater than 0.)

The player interacts with the board through the use of cards. By playing different cards, the player can place or flip Weather Tiles, thereby influencing the radiance of the flowers.

The game comes with a single player and a multiplayer mode.

In the Single player mode, the player takes the role of the Goddess Anthea. They travel across a map from level to level, where each level presents a setup of tiles on the board and cards in the deck.

In the Multiplayer mode, players play against each other. Blooming flowers on the board are worth points, and the player who is radiating the most radiance on a flower can claim it for themselves.

This game provides examples of:

  • Big Bad: There is competition among the different deities, but they all share the same goal of blooming all the flowers and brining life. Nuba, the Goddess of Drought, is the exception, deriving power from wilting flowers instead. After clearing most of the levels, Nuba comes along and invades all the cleared levels. The only way to proceed if for the player to beat Nuba on each level.
  • Easter Egg: The game has several tie-ins with other Arc.fish products.
  • Luck-Based Mission: Can be invoked by the player, if they choose to create a custom level with a random deck. Otherwise averted as none of the levels in the singleplayer campaign make use of this feature.
  • Puzzle Game: The single player mode has the player using a preset board and deck to solve it in such a way that all the flowers are blooming.
  • Shout-Out: The Covid Interview bonus level has shootouts to Sonic the Hedgehog, Sherlock Holmes, Animal Crossing and The Fledgling Assassin.
  • Unintentionally Unwinnable: Not all the combinations of Unlocks have been play-tested for every level. In this case, the player is informed it is unknown whether the level is beatable. In this case it's possible the level is actually unwinnable and the player's efforts are wasted.
  • Video Game Tutorial: The entire Single Player campaign is essentially a tutorial for the Multiplayer mode.
