Yusuke Murata (born July 4, 1978) is a Japanese mangaka, known as the artist behind the One-Punch Man redrawn version and Eyeshield 21.

While he is mostly known for his outstanding illustrations collaborating with other artists, including artwork that looks almost animated in manga format, he also has some mangas under his name. He names Akira Toriyama as one of his main inspirations growing up, as his family didn't allow him to read manga, and he had to read Dragon Ball with a friend who had the tankobon edition.

His works include, in chronological order:

  • Partner (1995)
  • Samui Hanashi (1998)
  • Kaitō Colt (2002)
  • Eyeshield 21 (written by Riichiro Inagaki, 2002-2009)
  • Madofuki Park (2008, oneshot)
  • Hetappi Manga Kenkyūjo R (2008-2010)
  • Blust (2009)

  • Donten Prism Solar Car (with Yasuo Ōtagaki, 2010–2011)
  • One-Punch Man (2012-present)
  • Dotō no Yūshatachi (with ONE., 2012)
  • Dangan Tenshi Fan Club (with ONE., 2012)
  • Monster of Earth (with ONE. and Kinu Nishimura, 2013)
  • Gokiburi Buster (with ONE., 2015)

Yusuke Murata and his career provide examples of:

  • What Could Have Been: Yusuke Murata was going to work in a Back to the Future manga adaptation that followed the events of the movies, but the project got canceled due to the inability to settle the rights issues for many of the original film's elements. invoked
  • Promoted Fanboy: Murata is a fan of Kinu Nishimura, the character designer of many Capcom video games, and Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball, which influenced his carrier. He contributed to Capcom games before he was a well known mangaka: he entered the Mega Man (Classic) boss character contests and won twice, his submissions resulting in Dust Man from Mega Man 4 and Crystal Man from Mega Man 5. He won a golden Famicom cartridge of Mega Man 4 upon winning the contest.
