Tom Smith is a member of WUTA (Writers under the Arch), a writers’ group based in St. Louis. His works been published more than a hundred times with stories appearing in 13 Stories, Nightmares, Scared Naked and many other markets. His story “White Kangaroo” published in Bewildering Stories was nominated in the P & E Poll as best fantasy story of 2003. He has three grown children.

Tom started writing when he was 18 or 19, way back in The '70s when he was required to take a writing course as part of his studies at a community college.

He prefers writing horror stories because he knows how rich Stephen King is.

Tom keeps letters from editors and has some fascinating letters in his collection. One from from Marion Zimmer Bradley says;after reading three paragraphs I just didn’t care to read any more... in fact this will be it for the day... I’m going shopping. And another from an unknow editor; Oh yeah! THIS IS HORROR! Talking about a story called The Faceless Ones.
