Shayne Smith is an American comedian and vocalist for the band, Painted Devils. His special, Prison for Wizards, appeared on Dry Bar Comedy. He is famously covered in tattoos - a reformed gang member - despite his mild manner and geeky appearance.

This show provides examples of:

  • Face of a Thug: Due to his tattoos, though he was a former gang member. He admits that the glasses and nebbish look is an attempt to make himself not look scary, since he did when he was a criminal.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • Admits to not trusting other heavily tattooed people, since they bug him more than the people that are afraid of him because of the tattoos.
    • He also admits that despite making fun of people from Wyoming and Florida, he really shouldn't just them since his personal life is in tatters.
  • Money Dumb: Flat out admits to not understanding how debt works, but gets around it by just not admitting to being himself when they try to give him a summon so they can't get it to him, and his credit score is so bad already he just shrugs the threat off.
  • Only in Florida: Has a bit about an alligator being used as a weapon in a robbery, questioning he amount of effort you would have to have put in into capturing a vicious predator just to throw through a drive-through window.
  • Poor Communication Kills: His friend Mike didn't seem to realize how bad of a gang member Shayne was, since Anton and him went to Scare 'Em Straight since kids at a summer camp were going down the wrong path. It turns out the wrong path was falling asleep in church, not doing their homework, and not listening to their parents, and Shayne panics because they were not ready for the heat they were bringing.
  • Reformed Criminal: Shayne is a self-admitted former gang member, though he never went to prison despite the tattoos.
  • Scare 'Em Straight: Shayne was asked to do this at a summer camp by his friend, Mike, for kids going down the wrong path, and brought his scary friend from his gang days, Anton. It escalated quickly, with them shouting at the kids, forcing them to exercise, Shayne threatening to kill a kid's dog and Anton choking a kid, and them crying. Shayne then asked his friend and learned that the kids had just done things like fall asleep in church and in fact were not gang members. Shayne rushed back to find that Anton was having them fight club shirtless, and shut it down, and Anton ended up threatening to kill them all if any of them told anyone what happened. To Shayne's surprise, not a single one of those kids snitched on them.
  • Tattoo as Character Type: Played For Laughs, as a former Tattooed Crook, he admits how it has made his life harder, and he claims he looks like the accountant of the prison's toughest gang. Played straight with his friend Anton, who is so tattooed and scary that Shayne flat out admits grown men should not be left alone with Anton.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: One story centers around Shayne drinking a lot of Mountain Dew, to the point that the staff at one particular 7-Eleven knew him as "Mountain Dew Guy" - this briefly circles back to the subject of his tattoos, as he points out someone who looks like him would really have to drink a lot of soda to not be known as "Neck Tattoo Guy".
