Rainbow Studios is a video game developer and animation studio, who is best known for their racing games, particularly their MX vs. ATV franchise. They have also produced a few ventures into film and TV production, including the 2001 TV movie Donner with Sunbow Entertainment and Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles.

Rainbow was formed in 1986 as the Rainbow Multimedia Group. In 1992, they began producing games, and in 1994 went under the name of Rainbow America. They changed to the name Rainbow Studios in 1995.

In November 2001, THQ announced that they would make a deal to acquire Rainbow, which would be completed in January 2002. The deal did not impact the distribution of games they developed that year, including ATV Offroad Fury 2, (Sony Interactive Entertainment), the Xbox port of Splashdown (Infogrames), and Star Wars: Racer Revenge (LucasArts).

In February 2010, Rainbow was renamed "THQ Digital Studio Phoenix" to focus more on downloadable titles, and in August 2011, they bit the dust as THQ closed the studio.

In 2013, THQ Nordic acquired and reopened Rainbow and restored their original name.

In 2024, Rainbow silently split from THQ Nordic's ownership, once again becoming independent.
