Patricia Lawlor Hayes, OBE, (22 December 1909 –- 19 September 1998), was a British character actress best known for playing Edna in the Play for Today episode "Edna, the Inebriate Woman".

After graduating from RADA in 1928 she spent ten years in repertory theatre, before moving to radio and TV. She appeared in many comedy series, with several appearances in The Benny Hill Show, Hancock's Half Hour, and Till Death Us Do Part.

She played Mrs. Basket in The Last of the Baskets and the titular Lilian in the radio sitcom, The Trouble With You Lilian, and returned to the role in 1971, when it was turned into a television series that ran for six episodes on ITV1. That same year, she won a BAFTA after playing the titular Edna in "Edna, the Inebriate Woman", an episode of Play for Today.

She was no stranger to the big screen either, with her most substantial roles coming in The Bargee, The Never Ending Story, Willow, and A Fish Called Wanda.

She was the mother of actor Richard O'Callaghan.

She died at the age of 88.
